SEASON ONE!CHAPTER THREE:
HIN CJHAE DONGUK'S OFFICE, surrounded by Kang Seongju, Kang Inju, and Chairman Kang Joongmo, I stood by the Chairman's chair, my presence a silent testament to my growing influence within the Kangho Group. Chae Donguk, Seongju's lapdog, sat across from us, his smug demeanour grating on my nerves with every word he spoke.
As Donguk droned on, his voice filled with false sincerity and hidden agendas, I could feel a familiar sense of disgust rising within me. He was a pawn in Seongju's game, a willing participant in the theft of Han Taeo's thesis, all in the name of furthering his own ambitions within the company.
With each glance I cast his way, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of exasperation. His two-faced nature, his willingness to betray others for personal gain, was a reminder of everything I despised about the corporate world.
Yet, in a twisted way, I couldn't help but admire his cunning and ruthlessness. He was a reflection of the face I chose to wear every morning, a reminder of the cut-throat nature of the business world and the lengths one must go to succeed.
As the meeting wore on, I remained composed and collected, my gaze fixed firmly on Chairman Kang. Despite the presence of Chae Donguk and his insidious machinations, I couldn't shake the feeling of Kang Seongju's eyes burning into me.
For over a year, Seongju had been relentless in his pursuit of my cooperation, ever since I had joined the law firm as an interim. His motives were transparent—he sought to use me as a pawn in his bid to become the heir to the Kangho Group, a position he coveted with an almost manic intensity.
With each passing moment, I could feel Seongju's gaze lingering on me, his silent plea for allegiance echoing in the air between us. But I refused to be swayed by his charms or his promises of power. I had my own agenda, my own path to carve within the company, and I would not be manipulated by his machinations.
As the tension in the room thickened, I remained steadfast in my resolve, my gaze never wavering from Chairman Kang's. No matter what Seongju had planned, I would not be a pawn in his game. My ambitions were my own, and I would stop at nothing to achieve them.
The tension in the room simmered beneath the surface, Kang Inju's voice cut through the air, laden with thinly veiled contempt. "Normally, this punk," he began, his gaze skewering his younger brother, Seongju, with disdain. "I mean, weren't you Kang Seongju's person?"
