______________
Before Brice and Maria knew it, the day had finally come. Nine years had passed—well, nine years tomorrow, that is.
"Hey, ~ Buttercup, can I dress you up in a dress for our birthday tomorrow?!" Bubbles said while leaning over Blossom to see her other sister, who was sitting on the right side of the car. Bubbles' appearance has changed a little, with big, round eyes that match her mother's and two sisters. Her hair was a dirty blond, and she had hazel eyes. Her hair was pulled into two pigtails with ribbons her mother gave her.
"No way in hell am I letting you dress me up in a dress," Buttercup snapped back. Buttercup also changed a little with her dark brown hair cut short and messy, and she had round hazel eyes.
"Buttercup! No cussing," Blossom scolded. Blossom's hair matched her mother's but had a tint of red in it. She also had big, round eyes that were a light hazel color.
"Yes, buttercup, what did I tell you about those words?" Maria said as she turned to face her children in the back seat.
"Sorry, ma," Buttercup replied as she turned away to look out the window, watching the trees and cars fly by. Although there were not many cars around on this road, it was also eerily quiet—no car honking or birds tweeting. As a matter of fact, Buttercup did not see any birds at all, which struck her as odd.
"Listen, girls, tomorrow won't be our usual birthday celebration." He looked into the review mirror as he said this. He saw all three of his girls sitting there, and he took a heavy sigh. Seeing them all grown up was very weird for him, as it seemed like just yesterday that they were babies in the back seat sleeping peacefully.
"huh!? Did you take my advice and say that we could go shopping for our birthday instead, papa!?" Bubbles asked in an enthusiastic voice.
"Haha, no, our little bubbly girl," Maria told her daughter as she turned to face her children, giving them a motherly smile.
"Then where are we going, and how come you made us pack so many things? Are we moving?" Blossom questioned herself as she stared at her parents, who were now showing a hint of worry on their faces.
"Yeah, and what's this Townsville we're going to?" Buttercup said as she crossed her arms and looked at her parents, who were now eerily quiet.
"How do you know?" Their mother asked in a bit of a nervous tone.
"I heard you talking on the phone. I heard you mention Townsville and just connected the pieces. I mean, I don't need to be as smart as Blossom to figure that out," Buttercup said in a sarcastic tone as Blossom gave her a quick jab with her elbow. Buttercup glared at her triplet with an annoyed look.
"Oh, that's well. Yes, we are going to Townsville," Maria confirmed as she looked at her husband for a look of approval. Brice nodded his head, and Maria swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat.
"We plan on staying in Townsville for your guy's birthday. We plan on staying there for a while. And for your guy's birthday, we have a big surprise," she told her children as she slyly sugarcoated her words.
"Really!?" Bubbles exclaimed in a high-pitched tone.
"Yes, and I am sure you all will love it," Brice added, and it made his youngest triplet squeal in excitement.
