WEDNESDAY

"pack your bags for this," "do your makeup for that," blah, blah, blah.

you were so sick of hearing such words.

but you'd endure it for your parents.

you would've moved out ages ago if it weren't for "the great inheritance."

their nagging wasn't making your life any easier.

sometimes it was too unbearable to handle by yourself, so you decided you wouldn't.

you'd begged your parents to let you go to the nearby dog shelter.

they tried to use any excuse to make you consider a "fancier" option, but failed.

your mother ended up taking you, clearly overdressed.

"we get out of this car, find the dog you want, and leave immediately."

your mother instructed.

"wouldn't that be stealing?"

you sarcastically joked.

your mother shot you a stern look, causing you to straighten your posture.

she approached the door, then grimaced.

she took lace gloves out of her bag and placed them elegantly over her hands.

you rolled your eyes.

the worker behind the desk looked confused, but also stifled a laugh.

she opened the door, causing all the dogs inside to bark loudly.

you didn't have to hear to know your mother had scoffed.

"hello, welcome to sky's shelter. are you looking for any specific breed today?"

the woman asked with a smile on her face.

you smiled back, but your mother immediately spoke,

"just show us the dogs."

the woman behind the desk placed a fake smile on her face.

"right this way, ma'am."

she brought the two of you outside where many dogs were rolling around, running, and playing with each other.

"this place is so unsanitary. how are you still running this place?"

your mother grabbed a tube of hand sanitizer.

the desk-girl sighed heavily.

you looked at her with an apologetic look.

you walked a bit further into the yard when a dog sprinted over to you.

the dog tackled you to the ground.

the dog was brown and shiny, labrador-like, not to mention that it towered over all the puppies.

you were caught in a fit of laughter, but your mother was not having it.

"i'm calling the police! this is an act of assault against the l/n name!"

she took out her phone.

you wrestled the dog off of you.

"no! mom, don't do that!"

you snatched her phone.

"y/n, get back in the car."

she pointed to the front of the shelter.

you stared at her in disbelief.

"i'm sorry, ma'am. fae is just a naturally playful dog. trust me, she meant no harm to your daughter."

the employee assured.

your mother stared at her with a disgusted facial expression.

she grabbed your wrist and began pulling you out of the building.

"hey!"

you bumped into a man carrying a few toys while she dragged you.

"sorry!"

you shouted.

you then tried yanking your arm away to help him pick them up, but your mother wasn't a weak woman.

"let me go!!"

you complained.

"trust me, the l/n family will never be visitors of your disgrace of a business ever again!"

she shouted as she opened the door.

"get in the car."

she practically threw you into the car.

"i cannot believe you actually wanted a canine from there."

she got into the driver's seat.

you hesitantly entered the passenger seat.

"you are never coming back here again, got it?"

she stared at you dead in the eyes.

"whatever."

you fastened your seatbelt.

she made a 'tch' sound and started the car.
