WednesdayI woke up to the sound of that fucking alarm clock. It was Wednesday and I was going to see Spencer before school to give him his notes from the previous day before when he wasn't in.
I got changed into some baggy jeans, a black Nike sweatshirt, my converse and my school bag. My long black hair was tied back messily with a claw clip and my wispy fringe landed just below my eyebrows conveniently covering the cut on my head. It wasn't too bad but the bruising around it was, so I did my light makeup and covered the bruise as best as possible, it was hard since it was a deep red & purple, I then put my sunglasses on to finish the look.
I made my way to the front door and grabbed a bit of money that I found on the floor I snatched it up and put it in my jeans pocket. I hadn't seen my father this morning so I don't really know where he is. I walked out side along the sidewalk and I saw a coffee shop and i decided to go in.
I went to the counter. "Hi there! How can I help you?" The cashier said.
"Hi please could I get a cappuccino to go please" I smiled "of course if you wouldn't mind waiting over there" she said as she pointed to the side of the small café. I paid and nodded and walked over to wait. Whilst she had her back turned getting my coffee I snuck a bagel into my bag, the shop only had one other customer but they were to busy speaking obnoxiously load down the phone to notice.I waited for a couple of minutes whilst I picked at my nails. "One cappuccino to go" she announced. I went up and grabbed it, thanked her and made my way out of the shop.
I carried on walking whilst sipping at my coffee, I made my way to school and waited outside the gates. I sat at a bench and got my book out and started reading.
It had been a couple of minutes and there was still no sign of Spencer, I was about to get up and leave thinking he had forgotten when a voice echoed from the side of me.
"Hey, what're you reading?" He said as he sat next to me. "Hey I thought you weren't gonna show, uhm I'm reading 'the shining" I said whilst putting my book in my bag.
"Yikes I could never" he said with a small laugh. "Why, not a big horror fan?" I said with a smile
"No definitely not, I prefer reading facts & stats rather than books about people wanting to murder people" he said.
"Ah fair enough, I don't know I've always enjoyed books like this" I said as I pulled out three pieces of paper.
"Anyway here are your notes from yesterday"I said as I passed them to him."Thank you so so much!" He said whilst he scanned over the notes I had taken. "Hey these are really good, and so detailed. Wow"He actually looked amazed. I laughed.
"I mean it's nothing special" I stated and he shook his head. He then put them away in his bag and we sat there for a minute in a bit of an awkward silence.
The bell rang signalling that everyone needed to get to their lessons. "Uhh just quickly before we have to go to class I umm just have a quick question" Spencer said nervously
"Yeah what's up?"
"W-well there's this book shop about a 15 minute walk from here and they have a 50% sale so all the books are really cheap, some are second hand and really cool and I just thought, well maybe you would want to go after school with me, y-you don't have to of course but just a suggestion" he said whist looking at me.
