Alice woke up to the familiar feeling of sun on her pale cheeks. It was a familiar cold day in Russia, and she knew she ought to prepare breakfast for her husband. She got up out of bed and stretched, putting on her jacket. She went down the stairs to the kitchen to greet her husband. "Russel?" She called out to him, entering the kitchen with her arms crossed in attempt to find warmth within the small jacket. "Alice! Good morning." Her husband left the stove and went to hug his wife. "You're cooking..? Wow." She said, hugging him tightly. "I have a surprise for you, Alice." He replied. "A surprise?" She said, wondering what the circumstances of this "surprise" could be. "Pancakes are ready, eat and then i'll take you there." Russel said, leaving her side to prepare a plate. Alice sat down at the table and ate the meal her husband had prepared.

Russel led his wife to the car, a small red Buick. It wasn't much but it was all they could afford at the time. He drove down a gravel road for what seemed like forever. "Honey, where are we going?" Alice questioned. "You'll see." Russel replied, just like he did the last time she asked. And the time before that.

The red Buick pulled into the parking lot of a large older looking building. "Here we are love." Russel told her, getting out and opening the door for his wife. Alice stepped out of the car and stared up at the gigantic building. "What.. Exactly is that..?" She questioned unsurely. "It's ours." He replied as he led her into the building.

Inside the building was just as large as the outside. It was clearly worn down and looked ancient. "What do you mean.. Ours..?" Alice mumbled nervously, holding her husband's hand as she looked around the anti-chamber. "I bought a business. For us, Alice. I sold the house." Alice let go of her husband's hand. "You.. What?" She
mumbled, stopping in her tracks. "You don't like it..?" He replied nervously. "Why would you sell our house." She replied angrily. "Because this has been my dream for years, Alice.. We're going to be royalty! We're going-" She slapped him. "You never even asked me what I wanted! Why did you do this!? I.. I don't even know what this place is!" She yelled. "Alice, this is what i've been planning for years. You're a part of this, do you not realize that? When you married me you signed into this will." He told her calmly. "What!? You're.. You are crazy, Russel. I'm leaving." She replied, turning to walk away. "No." He laughed, grabbing her wrist firmly. "You married me Alice.. I need you." "What the hell has gotten into you!?" She cried out, attempting to pull her wrist free of his grasp. "Let me show you something." He said, taking her into another room.

The room was fairly large, scattered with medical equipment. It seemed relevantly new compared to the rest of the building. There was a large metal table in the middle of the room, surrounded by screens and unfamiliar devices. "What is this.." Alice mumbled, looking around the room in fear. "This is a lab created to study the unnatural aspects of the world. I was the last heir after my father took his life in a failed experiment. "So.. It's basically a fucked up lab? What are you planning on doing? And more importantly, what do I have to do with this?" Alice questioned. "Your only job is to provide me with another heir." He replied. "You want a baby..?" She asked timidly. "A son." He said confidently. "Wow.. So that's all you think of me? No, I want a divorce." She replied. "I was afraid it was turn out this way." Russel said, pinning his wife to the metal table. "Russel! What the hell are you doing?!" She screamed, struggling against him. "I won't let you leave me. You're going to help me with this experiment.. You're my wife, Alice.. I need you!" He laughed, seeming to have lost his mind. Alice continued to fight against him. He was fairly skinny and his height fell at 5'4, but he was still stronger than her. Alice gagged as she felt her husband squeeze her throat. She was unable to scream, and crying was beginning to become painful. Soon everything went dark.

Alice woke up to the usual feeling of sun on her cheeks. Her head was throbbing and she sat up to see that she wasn't in her bed. She looked down to the other source of her pain to see that her dress was soaked with blood. "Russel!" She screamed for her husband who soon came rushing into the room. "What's wrong my dear?" He replied calmly. "I.. There's blood.. Where am I Russel..?" She pleaded, fighting back tears. "This is our home now, Alice, don't you remember?" He replied gently. "I can't remember anything.." She replied, letting the tears run off her cheeks. "Now now, don't cry.. You were in an accident. But i'm here for you, okay? We lost the house in a fire." Russel told his wife. He was a good liar.
