I could stand everything. The torture, the pain, the fires, the people - everything. As much as it hurt, as much as it burned, I could stand it.
But everything has a breaking point. A point where it just snaps. Just like how I snapped, after I had...
Without turning around, I pointed a finger at Wes behind me and a bolt of black lightning electrocuted him. He screamed, but his scream was cut off.
"You can't escape." I said, my tone flat and almost bored sounding. "And don't think I'll let you both die easy either. That's far too gracious, considering the vile snakes that you two are and the things you've done to both me and other people." I swished my hands outwards at both of them and fire sprang out in front of them, not enough to kill either, but enough to leave burns that would definitely scar. That was, if they lived on. Which they wouldn't.
"This," I curved my hand as a ball of fiery red flames appeared. I turned sharply to face the Duke. I pushed it into his face, and he couldn't even open his mouth to scream unless he wanted to eat fire. "Is for everything you've done to my brother and me."
When I pulled the flame away from his face, he screamed, his skin bleeding and peeling on his face. Thick, scarlet drops of blood ran down his face and dripped onto the ash-covered ground, his scream not ceasing. I pointed my finger into his open mouth and he froze as black lightning zapped out of my fingertips. He was electrocuted from the insides - he let out another scream.
He laid limp on the floor, still alive, but barely conscious from the pain. I took a step towards him and he visibly flinched, then strained his neck to look up at me.
"You can't go unconscious yet." I said, grabbing the collar of his burnt, scruffy, ash-covered suit, lifting him into the air easily. He struggled under me, but was most likely in too much pain to do anything. "I know. I think... that you don't need your eyes." As he shook his head violently, his mouth unable to speak anymore, I smiled, "what do you mean? Your eyes were blind from the beginning - you couldn't see how much I was hurting or how badly I was crying. So you don't need them anyways."
He shook his head harder, and I forced open one of his eyes, burning it out. He couldn't quite scream after the shock to the inside of his mouth, and it came out as a gurgled, strangled splutter. When I withdrew my hand and dropped him to the ground, he was unconscious. No. Not yet. I can't let him go this easy after what he did... he still hasn't shed as much blood as I had. Not as many screams or tears as I had...
I shocked him awake with a light dose of black lightning, then crouched down to his tortured body. I tilted my head and said, "you took pleasure in experimenting with my reaction after killing things and people I loved. Don't you think you should get a taste of it too?"
Standing up again, I turned around and floated up into the air. The main Blackstone mansion wasn't too far away - I shot out a bolt of black lightning after finding Duchess Blackstone. I could hear her high-pitched opera scream from where I was, and she kept screaming with her powerful voice until I dragged her to my face with the bolt of lightning. Her eyes were wild with fear, her hair out of place and her dress crumpled. I smiled and landed in front of the Duke again.
"N-N-N-No..." he croaked. I was surprised he could still use his voice at all. I made a blade of fire come from my hand and put it near the Duchess's throat. I knew for a fact that the Duke had loved his Duchess - but I had loved my brother too.
"Y-Y-Y-You may b-b-b-be a m-monster... b-b-b-b-but s-s-surely y-you wouldn't k-k-k-kill a c-c-completely in-innocent p-p-person." he croaked slowly and agonizingly, his voice no louder than a whisper.
"Innocent?" I nearly laughed. "She is far from innocent. So are you. You should be lucky that I'm just going to kill her now. Trust me, I could do a lot worse than death. You're living proof." I paused. "For now, anyways." In one swift motion, I had killed the Duchess, and her body fell to the ground with a thud. She hadn't even had time to scream before I had killed her. I glanced down at the figure of the Duke, his eyes - or should I say eye - wide with fear and terror and grief as he eyed his wife's body.
"How does it feel?" I asked softly. I raised my voice and screamed, "how does it feel to have the person you love killed in front of you? How does it feel! You may not have felt anything of it when you did it to my brother, so how does it feel when I do it to someone you care about!" He didn't speak. Instead, he let out a choked, maniacal laugh - he'd finally gone mad. He had probably been mad in the first place anyways.
He didn't stop laughing. He kept on laughing, his piteous frame shaking with the effort of laughing. He laughed like a true villain, the true psycho he was. Gritting my teeth, I pointed the blade at his throat. He kept laughing, even as the skin at his throat began to blister and burn away from the close proximity of the hungry flames.
"Goodbye." He was dead in a second, his head decapitated from his body. His scarlet-red blood merged with the thick, hardened droplets already on the ground, quickly being engulfed in fire. I turned around to face Wes. My hair was plastered to my face, the heat from the surrounding fires finally making me feel a little sick inside. I didn't have much time left... I had to end Wes quickly.
"You. You. You." I repeated slowly, taking slow steps towards him. "I would have loved to make you suffer as much as you made me suffer."
"I never laid a finger on you!" Wes protested, backing up in fear, inching along the ground backwards as he desperately tried to get away from me.
"No. You didn't. But you still hurt me nonetheless." I said, my words void of emotion. "You made me do all kinds of things against my will for you. I hunted beasts for you, I stole things for you, I murdered the poor old Pope for you - I did everything you asked! And at the end, when I had nothing left to offer you, you abandoned me and looked down on me."
"B-B-But you agreed to everything!" He was still trying to make up excuses.
"Because I was stupid and in love!" I screamed at him as soon as the words had left his mouth. "I loved you! I loved you and would have done anything for you! I did everything for you! And you threw me away like trash! Who the hell do you think you are? I'll never regret killing you, even after I'm dead!"
"Y-You loved me!" He sounded as though he already knew. He had already known, but chose to ignore my feelings and push me further and further off the edge. "S-S-So don't kill me! I-I-I love you t-t-too! W-We can r-r-run away t-t-together from th-this mess and--"
I cut him off with a humourless laugh. "Even now, when you're about to die, you still try to manipulate me. How pathetic. How you." I paused to take a shaky breath. "Also, loved. Past tense. Get that in your head, you bastard! You can't possibly be so stupid to think that I still love you after what you did to me!"
I could feel the clock inside me ticking. My time was almost up. But I couldn't stop screaming at him. "I gave you everything! I gave you power, fame, everything you asked of me! You knew I loved you, but you still abandoned me once you'd sucked me dry of all my worth! I fucking hate you! If I could go back in time, I would kill you many times over! I fucking hate you!"
Fire rose in a tornado around me, and a flash of flames reached out and engulfed Wes. He let out a scream form inside the fire, and I could barely see his dark silhouette against the raging red flames as angry as I felt. Finally, it stopped. The world seemed to stand still. I couldn't hear the shouts, the crackling flames, nothing.
I collapsed to the ground, my head in my hands and crying uncontrollably. Amidst the flames, a sobbing girl with striking white hair. A broken spirit who's time had reached its end.
I felt the clock inside me tick one last time. It was over. The life I had fought so hard to have the right to live was over. The life I had struggled to hold out in was over. All just like that. All surrounded by flames. All surrounded by ashes.
And I could finally rest at peace.
THE END
