**alexs pov**

I sit in my cold room on the white hard bed

I listen to the rain echo throughout the room

I look to my left and see a empty bed

I sit up

"Shit shit shit shit" I spat as I search the room for the little 5 year old I'm supose to watch

"ESMERA WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU" I yell quietly

Up. Down. Left. Right.

She was no where to be found

"Fuck it" I slip on my shoes and grab my iPod and headphones

I quietly open the door when a loud creak fills the empty halls

I cringe at the sound hoping no one heard it

I walk out into the hall and take a deep breath

"Alex?" A little girl whispers

I cover my mouth from screaming

"Esmera what the fuck" I spat and grab her arm and put her in the room

Click... Click... Click

I hear the room echo

"No no no no" I look around the room for somewhere to hide

The clicking of high heels in the hall became louder

I look at the door and at esmera

"No no no NO" I scream

I hear the clicks of the heals stop in front of me

I crouch down into a ball and cover my head with my hands

I never know what she is going to do to me

She grabs my hair and pulls me up from the ground

"Please no" I whimper

"Why would I? You are up past your bedtime!" Karina yells at me

Karina is the orphanage manager thing the person who is in charge of all the kids

She pulls out a belt

"Please no!" I scream

It wasn't just some belt.. It had white razors embedded into it

It hurt like hell when they dug into my skin....

"Stop crying" she spats

I wipe my hand over my cheek and feel a wet drop sliding down my cheek

My hand nails dig into my arm as I get ready for the pain

She throws me to the ground

"If I catch you past your bed time again, I will do worse then I do now" she spats and walks out of the room

Hot tears roll down my face as i get in my bed...

**the next day**

"ALEX ALEXXXX WAKE UPPP" I remember esmera yelling my name in the morning before she uh... Got cancer... Fuck I miss her she was like my sister

I groggily get up and walk to my iPod

I take it out of the charger

"I guess a morning walk" I mumble

I walk out the front ignoring everyone that passes me

"Ouch" I say rubbing my head after colliding with a guy

"Oh my gosh I'm so so sorry" the guy says frantically

"It's fine, just a little bruise that's all" I say quietly not wanting to embarrass myself

"Oh gosh, okay um I'm Cameron" 'Cameron' says

"Alex" I say with a slight smile

"Well Alex, I have to go get some stuff at the store, all my friends ditched me, so would you like to come?" He asks quite fast

I smile and nod

He looks like a good guy, I can trust him

"So where do you live? I mean like here in LA" he says

"I live in a orphanage, my parents got into a car wreak when I was young" I say

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked" he says

"It's fine, uh it's the place I was standing in front of " I say to Cameron

"Oh, that's where my younger sister esmera lives, I can't adopt her unless they are 16 or over" Cameron rambles on

"Yeah... I miss her too" I say

I mean she got cancer and died I would miss my little sister

"You miss her? Is she your roommate?" He asks

My face flushes

The didn't tell him.....

"She was my roommate" I say

"Was?" He questions with concern flowing through his voice

".... They didn't tell you did they" I look down at my legs

Me and esmera were so close, she was so small and so young and that stupid cancer fucking took her

"Alex. What didn't they tell me" Cameron stops the car and looks at me

I glance at him as tears form in my eyes

"... Esmeralda was my roommate, and um s-she got um cancer and... D-d-died" I bawl

"Cancer?... They didn't tell me" Cameron says arguing with. Himself

I turn to him and grab his hand

"I'm so so so sorry, but I got to go before my curfew or ... She will hurt me" I say getting out of the car

"Who will hu-" all I hear before I get out of the door and start running back to the shelter
