ELOISES POV

Sirens wailed, piercing the air as a crowd gathered to witness the destruction of the arch. Smoke hung heavily, mingling with the murmurs of dismay from onlookers.

The chaos stemmed from Percy's foolish act, sacrificing himself needlessly. A gesture I found utterly wasteful. I hadn't needed saving, and Percy should have remained with the others. Now, he might be gone, perhaps even dead.

But then doubt crept in. Could Percy, despite his occasional clumsiness in combat, have survived? Perhaps there was a chance.

I've seen Percy fight during capture the flag, his actions were quick, sloppy— but quick.

Amidst the turmoil, my attention was quickly drawn to three elderly women seated on a bench, knitting intently. Their presence seemed out of place, yet their gaze lingered on me, unnervingly.

Ignoring Grover's mutterings, my focus remained fixed on the trio. One of them snipped a thread with scissors, their eyes still locked onto mine.

The Fates.

A chill ran down my spine. Someone's demise loomed close.

"Dude, they're staring at us," Juniper pointed out, her elbow unintentionally nudging mine.

"Yeah," I replied absentmindedly, my mind preoccupied with the ominous encounter.

"Eloise?" Juniper called out. I feel a tapping sensation on my shoulder, alarming me to rotate my head at hers, "What?"

Annabeth motioned her arms to an officer who was glaring right at us. His eyes showed that he was focused on us, in our doings.

Great, we're fugitives now. I thought we've had enough with this ever since Echidna came at our direction.

I shook my head, "Come on. Let's go find Percy." I declared, looking over at the other three, who looked at me in disbelief. Juniper opened her mouth, "Eloise—"

"He's alive. I know it" I argued. "Now, are you going, or not? ..Never mind, I'll be fine finding Percy on my own." I muttered, walking off as I heard their footsteps follow up behind me. I guess they don't like the idea of splitting up.

"Percy!" We all hollered in unison as we traversed the pathways flanking the sprawling patio, the scent of water lingering in the air.
