"Try eating raw cookie dough for a week, see how well you can stomach it then!"
Blue cookie dough flew through the air across the counter, landing on my nose. I grinned, scooping it off. I leaned over smudging it all over Josh's cheek.
"Doesn't matter, cookie dough is meant to be eaten raw, and the leftovers baked!" I announced, my grin most probably revealing blue teeth. Josh smiled, coming over to my side, a whisk in hand. He present the whisk to me, as though it was a billion dollar necklace.
I took it and started licking off the cookie dough.
I stared into his soft brown eyes, the sun shining onto making them a rich amber. If I could I would stare into them all day.
"How long do the cookies go in the oven?" He asked, walking away towards the oven.
I blinked, trying to remember. "Twelve minutes."
He grabbed the cookie sheet and put it in the oven, setting the timer.
I glanced at the clock, making sure that my Mom wouldn't come back with Josh here.
"How are we on time?" Josh asked, washing his hands at the sink.
"We're good. She shouldn't be here for another forty-five minutes." I replied, grabbing the bowls. I put them in the sink.
He was looking at his phone, his fingers racing across the small screen. His brow furrowed, he looked frustrated, which I found cute.
"What's up?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Well I always thought that potatoes were roots, but they're not?" He looked up at me, almost asking me to tell him it wasn't true.
"You didn't know that?" I grabbed the phone from his hand, trying to read the article. I handed it back to him. "Aren't they stems or something?" I offered.
He kept reading, his eyes wide full of wonder. "How'd you know? You're a genius!" He stuffed his phone into his pocket and pecked me on the cheek.
I could feel my face flush, a sly grin sneaking up onto my face. "You know me, I'm totally passing all of my classes!" I rolled my eyes.
He shook his head, "Grades aren't important. Your effort is. And so is your amazing personality!" He grabbed my hand, covering it with his. I could feel something fall into my hand. He moved his hand, his finger over his lips.
"Open it in one week. I have a surprise for you!" His hand brushed my cheek, his nose inches from mine.
My breathe hitched, but I smiled, leaning in.
I could get used to this.
This is a really short, hopefully sweet chapter. I hope y'all enjoyed it! The next chapter is going to be a bit of a doozy so get ready!
This was probably cringe too so thank you for suffering through this with me. The next chapter should be better.
Thanks for reading, bye!
