As Hyun-woo steps into his apartment that evening, the world seems to shimmer with newfound possibilities. Sharing coffee with Eun-hee today made him thinking about her, filling the air around him with a delightful sense of anticipation. Each step carries a rhythm of excitement and a touch of nervous energy.Just as he revels in the moment, a message from a known number illuminates his phone screen.
Eun-hee: Hey! It's Eun-hee. Wanna grab a coffee tomorrow?
Hyun-woo: (Heart skipping a beat) Absolutely, that sounds fantastic!
After a pause, Hyun-woo blushes and anxiously awaits a reply, contemplating whether he sounded overly eager.
Hyun-woo's Thoughts: Should I have played it cooler? What if she thinks I'm too enthusiastic?
His phone buzzes, dispelling any doubt that lingered.
Eun-hee: Great! Let's meet tomorrow, same time, same place.
Hyun-woo exhales a breath he didn't realize he was holding. Eun-hee has just extended an invitation.
The next day dawned with the crisp embrace of autumn, painting the campus in hues of gold and amber.
In his quiet room, Hyun-woo, who's more of a stay-in guy, got ready for the date with a mix of excitement and jitters. With not many options in his closet, he settled on his usual stuff - a plain button-down shirt and dark jeans. Standing in front of the mirror, he tweaked the collar, making sure everything looked okay. The shirt felt familiar, a bit worn but comfy. Even though it was nothing fancy, Hyun-woo checked himself out in the mirror, trying to look his best. He ran his fingers through his hair, hoping that despite the ordinary clothes, Eun-hee would see he put some effort into getting ready for their date.
Hyun-woo, eager not to keep Eun-hee waiting, arrived early at the bustling café. The air carried the scent of fallen leaves and the promise of a beautiful day.
Deciding to relish the refreshing atmosphere, Hyun-woo positioned himself outside the café, surrounded by the vibrant tapestry of autumn foliage. Patiently, he checked his watch, each passing minute heightening the anticipation of Eun-hee's arrival.
Suddenly, A strong breeze twirls around, making the golden leaves float in a beautiful pattern. Right at that moment, Eun-hee walks in, almost like the wind beckoned her, her radiant presence dispelling Hyun-woo's nervous energy. A ponytail neatly secured her hair, and a casual red dress adorned with a cat print accentuated her figure. Instantly, Hyun-woo was overcome with nervousness, rendered speechless by her beauty.
Finally, the moment arrived as, her smile mirroring the warmth of the autumn sun. "Hi," she greeted, her voice carrying the essence of the season.
"Hey," Hyun-woo replied, genuinely delighted by her presence amidst the picturesque setting.
"Sorry I'm late. Did you wait long?" she asked, her breath visible in the cool, autumn air.
"Not at all," he assured her, and together, they strolled into the cozy embrace of the café. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the fragrance of fallen leaves, creating a perfect autumn ambiance.
"I'll order. What do you want?" Eun-hee offered, her eyes reflecting the excitement for the date.
"I'm fine with a cappuccino," Hyun-woo replied, the cozy atmosphere inviting them inside.
"Okay, one cappuccino for you. And for me, an espresso. Wait here, okay?" Eun-hee headed to the counter, the sounds of coffee machines and friendly chatter enveloping the café.
While Eun-hee went to grab the coffee, Hyun-woo couldn't help but watch her go with a soft smile. The way she moved, the sweet smell she left behind - it all made his heart flutter. Standing there, waiting for her to come back, Hyun-woo found himself torn. A part of him was drawn to everything about her, making him feel like he was falling for her, bit by bit. Yet, another part hesitated, unsure if he should let himself dive into those feelings completely. The uncertainty lingered as he grappled with the idea of being friends with Eun-hee.
At the counter, the cashier inquired, "What would you like?"
"One espresso and one cappuccino, please," Eun-hee replied, her anticipation mirrored in the autumn glow around her.
"Sure. Do you want it for takeout?"
"No, we'll drink it here."
"Okay, please have a seat."
As the cashier skillfully prepared their drinks, Eun-hee returned to the table, a tray of warmth in her hands. "Here are your drinks," she said, handing them to Hyun-woo.
"Thanks," he smiled, and they sat in a momentary, comfortable silence, sipping their coffees amidst the gentle rustle of leaves outside.
"So, why did you invite me out today?" asked Hyun-woo, breaking the tranquil autumn silence.
"Hmm, well, I don't really have any plans today. And I thought it would be nice to hang out with someone new amidst this beautiful season."
"Ah, I see."
"So, what do you do for fun?" she asked, genuinely curious.
"For fun?" Hyun-woo considered. "I read a lot, I guess. And I watch anime."
"That's cool. I like anime, too. What kind of books do you read?"
"All kinds. I like fantasy and sci-fi."
"Really? Me, too. What's your favorite book?"Hyun-woo can't believe it. He's finally alone with Eun-hee. But he doesn't know what to do or say. He's afraid of messing up and ruining everything.
"Probably this one," Hyun-woo showed her the book he was reading, its cover adorned with autumnal colors.
"Oh, I read that! I liked it a lot. The main character was so cool."
"Right? And the plot was so interesting."
"Yeah, it was really well written."
As their conversation flowed effortlessly, the café became a haven where the warmth of their budding connection mingled with the autumnal charm. Until, a voice interrupts their intimate conversation.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the literary maniac who reads more than he talks," Hye-bora, with a knowing glint in her eyes, elegantly slipped into the conversation., Hyun-woo's childhood friend, strides over with a vibrant energy, momentarily halting the flow of their discussion.
Hyun-woo caught off guard. "Oh, hey, Hye-bora "
Hye-bora :"Hello. And who's this gorgeous lady here?"
