new hair who dis?

Yushi was bored one day and somehow decided that he wanted to dye his hair, despite never having dyed his hair before. Yushi immediately called his best friend, Riku, telling him of his plan. They decided on paying a visit to the store the following day, after school.

They walked into the store, a faint and pleasant chime signaled their entrance. Moving further into the store, they went through the different aisles, looking for the dyes. As Yushi spotted the different hair colors on the shelf, he quickly grabbed Riku's wrist and pointed them out. With curiosity, Riku picked out an orange one and inspected it. 'What about this color?' Riku suggested, he showed it to Yushi who leaned closer for a better look. Riku thought that Yushi resembled an orange cat so it would be a good choice. Yushi hesitated for a moment before replying 'Do you really think that suits me?' he asked, scratching his head, unsure of the suggestion. Riku nodded his head 'this will look very natural on you as well'. His reassurance helped ease Yushi's uncertainty, and he nodded back with a smile. 

They went to the checkout with the orange hair dye and some snacks for later. Yushi was even more excited now, not believing that he was actually going to do this.

Both of the boys were at Yushi's place getting ready to dye his hair in the bathroom. Riku made Yushi wear an old shirt, not wanting to dirty his nice clothes. He chose a white shirt which has gotten a bit too small.

As Riku mixed the hair color, he wrinkled his nose in disgust. 'Ugh, this dye smells awful!' Yushi chuckled, looking over his shoulder and watching curiously as the paste of the dye took shape. 'Oh yea it does' he said feeling a bit overwhelmed by the smell.

Yushi sat down on a chair, while Riku took the role of putting the dye on his head. He didn't know if he liked the feeling of it. It was slightly cold in the beginning and it was sometimes a bit itchy.

Yushi turned towards the mirror after Riku was done blow drying it. A smile spread across his face 'It's so pretty'. He carefully ran his fingers through his hair. 'I bet your crush will notice you now' said Riku, taking out his phone, a smirk on his face. His face dropped. 'I don't have a crush!' Yushi said, a slight blush creeped on his face. 'Yea sure.. because staring at him while daydreaming is a normal thing?' Riku held back a laugh. Yushi just rolled his eyes as he cleaned up the mess they had left.

Yushi just finished a stressful math class and was really in desperate need of something sweet. Math was definitely not his favorite subject at school, as he often struggles to grasp the concepts. He would give up trying and usually start drawing on his notes just hoping for the class to end. It was passing period so he quickly walked out of the classroom, passing other students in the hallway. He felt even more confident with his new look after he received some compliments by his fellow classmates. He headed over to the venting machine, inserted the money and waited for the machine to dispense his drink. Yushi let out a sigh of relief when the machine spitted out his drink, grabbing it. He opened the lid as he took a sip of the sweet strawberry flavored fluid. The flavor sweetened his tongue making his brain cells dance in happiness. 'Only 2 more classes' he thought, trying to be energetic for the rest of the day. With his next class about to begin, he made his way to the classroom.

As soon as Yushi walked into the classroom, he heard that all-too-familiar voice screaming his name. He looked over and saw Riku waving his hands above his head, calling out his name. Yushi felt the eyes of his classmates on him. 'That's embarrassing' He thought, quickly making his way over to his best friend. Yushi sat down next to Riku and grabbed his friend's right arm, shaking it with his free hand. "Why did you do that" he whined, wishing he could just disappear right now of embarrassment.  Riku smirked and put an arm around Yushi, saying 'Sorry I was just excited to see my pookie' Yushi shot him a disgusted look, hearing the word 'pookie'. "Next time I'm going to pour my drink on you' he threatened even though it would be a waste of money in his thoughts. Riku rolled his eyes and replied 'You're mean Yu-chan'. Yushi just took out his stuff from his bag while Riku directed his eyes to his freshly dyed hair, admiring it. 'I knew this color was a good choice' he said proudly, knowing it was his suggestion.

This is a short chapter for the beginning of my story. I did write more but I wasn't finished with that part but I couldn't let it wait and decided to publish the first part.

I had fun writing this chapter and also ofc I had to make Yushi ginger in this book because it's honestly one of his best hair colors he has had 💜
