Kita wasn't the biggest fan of new people in Hyogo, especially city folk. He'd seen it countless times. They moved here because they thought it'd be stress-free, and then they realized they weren't cut out for life outside the city.
But he tried to keep an open mind.
A new guy would be moving into town, and Kita heard he'd also be opening up a bakery. Now Kita didn't have the biggest sweet tooth in the world, but he still fancied himself a fun treat every now and then, and having a new source for those did seem nice.
It apparently also meant business, and before he knew it, he was loading bags of rice into your truck.
"Here, let me help you out,"
You offered, heading towards the pile of rice sacks. He was just about to deny your offer for help, but he couldn't help but notice how you didn't really struggle with the heavy lifting.
"Having someone like ya help around the farm would be nice,"
He joked. You smiled back at him,
"That sounds fun! It'd also be good to get a hands on look to see where I get my rice from,"He agreed with your sentiments, and stood in front of you while you figured out your payment.
"And... this should be good. Plus a little extra for being so nice,"
You handed him the cash, but he pushed back the extra amount, shaking his head."Ya run a bakery now, ya need to be more careful with yer money,"
You sighed,
"Fine. But I'm giving you a free dessert if you come over, okay?"He couldn't argue with that, and after exchanging a few more pleasantries, you drove off.

You greeted your guests who'd been eagerly waiting outside the front door for your shop's grand opening.
"Welcome in everyone! Take your time looking over all your options, and if you want a sample, just ask!"Having this many people here for your opening day gave you hope that you'd be able to keep your business afloat, especially with the amount of teens in your shop.
Still, you didn't want to get your hopes too high. You'd heard countless stories of businesses starting off well and then crashing down to collapse, which is why you had a backup plan.
That plan?
Move back to the city with your parents and get a job there.
It wasn't the most glamorous backup plan, but it'd have to do.
After a while, most of your customers left, which meant that you got to go on break! The joy of being your own boss was that you could decide when your breaks were.
So you sat down at the counter and opened up a nice magazine, lazily reading through.
Soon, you heard the bell you'd hung on the door ring, and looked up to see your rice provider at the door.
"Kita, it's good to see you!"
He nodded with a smile, silently walking around the shop to examine your vast assortment of sweet treats.
Eventually he picked one out, and you smiled at his choice.
"Strawberry rice pudding? Good choice, the strawberries this season are extra tasty,"
You commented, grabbing one of the desserts and handing it to him."How much do I owe ya?"
He asked."It's on the house, remember? Oh, I have some other desserts if you want to share them with your friends and family,"
You walked to the back of the store before giving Kita a bag with a box in it.
"I'm not taking no for an answer either,"Kita smiled with gratitude, walking out the store to one of the outside tables, setting down the bag you'd given him and opening the container in which you'd put his strawberry rice pudding.
You watched from the window as he took a bite, a happy smile forming on his lips from the sweet strawberry flavor, a look of pride as well knowing that the rice in the pudding came from him.
He finished his sweet treat and left, making a mental note to bring some friends over next time.
You'd be a good addition to the town.
