"This was the fourth time", said Aaliyah exasperated as she slumped on the couch, " I was just about to kiss him, but then I wake up".

"Quit complaining already, and get ready, it is time to go to the Sharma's. Papa's third eye will open if he sees you in this attire" said Puja pointing at Aaliyah's pjs while adjusting her saree's frills for the nth time. It was the time of Carpenter family's monthly dinner ritual at the Sharma's, and Papa Carpenter doesn't like to be late.

"You don't get how frustrating is it to not being able to see his face" continued Aaliyah ignoring Puja. "What if he is my one true love, and I never get to meet him?"

"I don't know about you, but my tolerance is running thin, and so Papa's. He is gonna come knock-", Puja was interrupted by Papa Carpenter's knock, and his voice thundered inside the room asking them to come downstairs.
Aaliyah tackled Puja to the ground as she reached for the door knob, "Don't you dare" she whispered, and answered him that they would be downstairs in a minute.

Papa Carpenter a.k.a Sameer "Sam" Carpenter grumbled about punctuality as he walked downstairs, and yelled at his son Robin to get the car ready before the family steps out. Robin backed out of the house without any comments looking at his father, who usually a chirpy guy was lathered in tension. An arm wrapped around Sam's shoulder, "I know it is a big decision, Sam, but it is bound to happen" said Meera smiling at him affectionately. Sam relaxed at his wife's soothing words, "I know, but I don't think I am ready to see them off yet. They are my babies, and we haven't even told them about Sharma's proposal, how do you reckon they will react?"

As Sam was finishing his sentence he was caught off-guard by the sight of both his daughters walking towards him in sarees. Puja, the elder twin was wearing a lilac coloured Saree with silver themed jewels, while Aaliyah, the younger one was wearing a cream coloured saree with gold themed jewels. Both Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter were mesmerised at the sight of their daughters. Meera exclaimed as she hugged her daughters, "You look beautiful!"

"Thank you, Ma" said Puja, "But, why did you ask us to wear sarees today?"

"I-That—I thought it would be a change from your regular jeans, and sweats. Now, go on get into the car, we are running late", said Meera as she nudged them out of the door.

"I smell something fishy" whispered Aaliyah. "Oh, shut up" replied Puja, not ready to hear another one of her "conspiracy theories".

"I can't believe it", said Sam to Meera, "My daughters are adults" wiping a tear off his eye.
