I blink in surprise. Where did the innocent-little-freshman look go?
"Sorry, what?" I ask, still confused.
She bursts into tears.
"I'm sorry, Dru! I'm so sorry. They made me do it." She buries her face in her hands.
"Who made you do what?" I wonder out loud.
"The other wolves. They made me ask you if you were planning an attack. With him." She cringes.
"With who?!" I start to get impatient.
Her light eyes bore into mine. "The other vampire sitting with you before. With blond hair."
I try to hold back a gasp. "Mathias?"
"I don't know his name."
"Um...did he have blue eyes?"
"Yeah."
"Was he the one you were running away from before?" I ask, to confirm my suspicion.
"What--ohhh, yeah."
"Why?"
She looks down at the floor, and is silent for a moment. Then she looks back at me with a false smile.
"I'll explain it another time. But let's just enjoy this class, shall we?"
I'm annoyed at her for changing the subject, but I can tell she's scared and so I go with it. But what she just said really struck me. Mathias planning an attack? Where did that come from? And, more importantly, what did it mean?
I clear my throat. "Naomi," I whisper.
She turns her head in my direction, and the light catches her eyes. They're yellow.
"Wait," I start. "Are you..."
She looks at me quizzically and I motion to her eyes. She smiles.
"Yeah, I'm a wolf. Kind of weird, huh?"
I shrug. "Not really. I mean, this is coming from a vampire, so..."
We laugh. When we grow silent, I try to ask her again.
"Naomi."
She looks at me. I motion for her to come closer so on one else hears us. She leans in, and I whisper, "We need to talk sometime." Then I smile to show her that I'm not trying to sound forceful.
She smiles back.
"I'll tell you," she says. "I'll tell you everything."
I nod, satisfied.
The teacher clears her throat. "Done, ladies?"
Naomi blushes but I sit back calmly. If this is the 'tough high school drama' that Naomi goes through, she's lucky. Really lucky.
Author's Note: Hey guys, so I know this chapter is really short, but that's because chapter 6 was originally supposed to be combined with this one. I re-read it afterwards and the two didn't really blend well together as one chapter, so I just split them. Hope that's ok with you all :) and comment down below if you like Naomi!! I tried to make her this cute, innocent little freshman girl that's manipulated by others easily, so hopefully through my descriptions that's how you see her as well. Anywayssss...today is Friday!
