Shivani got startled hearing him, keeping a hand on her chest, "dara diya apne hume." 

(You scared me.) 

"Isiliye to poocha ki kaha khoyi hai ki apne hume ate hue bhi nhi dekha," Dev replied, sitting beside her on the swing. 

(That's why I asked, where are you lost that you did not even see me come.) 

"Kuch nhi bas aise hi, chaand dekh rahi thi," she said gazing at the stars. 

(Nothing just looking at the moon.) 

"Hum nhi jaante apke mann me kya chal raha hai. Par jitna hum apko jaante hain, itna zaroor keh sakte hain ki, jo ladki chaand ko dekh kar khilkhila uthti hai, wo aj chaand ko dekh kar udaas hai," he said looking at her.

Hearing him, made her heart swell with warmth, and looked at him, "acha itna jaante hain ap hume?" 

(Oh really, you know me soo much?) 

"Ji bilkul, koi shak!!!" he exclaimed putting his arm around her shoulder, pulling her close and continued, "ab bataiye kya baat hai?" 

(I do, any doubt!!!) (Now tell me what is the matter?) 

"Pata nhi, kuch samajh nhi ara. Hume acha nhi lagra kal ke liye," she replied snuggling comfortably in his arms. 

(I do not know; I do not understand anything. I do not have a good feeling about tomorrow) 

He held her face with his free hand and looked deep in her eyes, "hum nhi jaante ki apko kis baat ka darr hai ya ye ki kal kya hoga, bas itna samajh lijiye ki ap par ane wali har mushkil ko humse hokar guzarna padega. Humne agni ke samne apko vachan diya hai jeewan bhar saath dene ka. Toh itna bharosa toh ap hum par kariye ki hum apko kabhi akela nhi chhodenge." 

(I do not know what you are afraid of or what will happen tomorrow, just understand that every difficulty you face will have to go through me first. I have promised you in front of the holy fire to support you with all my life. Just trust me this much that I will never leave you alone.) 

"Ek vachan aur mange toh denge?" She asked opening her palm in front of him. 

(Will you give me one more promise if I ask for it.) 

"Poore ke poore hum hi apke hain, chahe toh jaan maang lijiye, khushi khushi dedenge. Wese hum jaan lena jyada pasand karte hain, ap bas hukum kijiye," he answered holding her hand. 

(I belong to you, if you want my life, I will happily give it. But I prefer killing more, you just name it.) 

She frowned at his comment, "na jaan deni hai or na hi leni hai, bas itna waada kijiye ki jab bhi koi apko humare baare me kuch kahe, ap kisi natije par paunche bina pehle humse baat karenge." 

(Neither do you have to give life nor do you have to take it, just promise me that whenever someone tells you something about me, you will talk to me first without reaching any conclusion)
