The next day I walked into class at 8:45 only 15 minutes late,as some would say fashionably late. I looked around the room before I sat in a seat. Marena wasn't in the room. She must have gotten a stomach bug. She's like never late to class!
"Class we are going to do an experiment today. You will want to partner up with someone." Professor Callahan says to us. "So start part-" right then Marina walks in huffing and fluffing her hair behind her shoulder.
"Fashionably late are we?" Pro Callahan says.
"Sorry I'm late,pro I had an appointment." She says to him as she comes over next to me and sits down and hands me a note!
I opened the note and started reading it. I was partially listening to Professor.
"Eli, tell your girlfriend what we are doing today."Pro Call tells me.
I look up and it clicked.
"We aren't together-we are good friends!"we both say at the same time. Then we make a face at him for assuming we were dating. I hear Carah giggle. I sneer at her. She sticks her younger out and sneers at me.
"So today we are doing an experiment and he's wanting the class to partner up with someone." I say to Marena.
"Good. As I was saying before all this diversion. Partner up and grab your lab notebook and something to write with and let's head over to the lab. I'm giving you 2 minutes to do all this. Starting now!" He exclaims.
Marena lightly touches my arm-claiming me as her partner. I'm glad to know that I'm the first she picks. I sense that she might just like me- a little. We grab our notebook and pencil. I look over my shoulder as we head to the door of the classroom. I see Ray P pound his fist into his hand and have a scrunched up look on his face. (Ray Paddington likes Marena a lot too.)He has tried to flirt with her and then kiss her- she rejects him). We walk over to the lab room. It smells awful, like dead frogs but a whole lot stronger.
"Alright, everyone. There are directions and instructions how to go about the experiment on the tables. Supplies and tools are over here next to the wall near the Exit sign. When you finish, clean up the station, clean off tools, put the animal in the bucket and have a seat and answer the 3 questions I have on board. Once you finish, make sure you have all the info from the experiment written in your notebook. I will collect the books at the end of class!" Professor calls out to us as everyone goes to a station.
I look up when I hear.
"Ugh! Gross, I won't pick that thing up!" Carah squeals as she backs away from the table.
"Come on Carah! Don't be such a scaredy cat! It's only a catfish!" Matt, her partner exclaims!
"Fine!" She says as she puts on gloves.
Marena was reading the instructions while my attention was averted to Carah's squeals. Marena looks up. She sees what Eli was looking at.
"Ahem! Eli!" She says harshly to me.
"Oh yeah the experiment. Sorry, Carah being her annoying self during a lab experiment like this. It's funny!" I say to her quietly.
"She's a character. That girl she is!" Marena replies. "Alright, it looks like we need to cut open the chest to the bottom of the stomach. Then find the lung, the heart, the stomach, liver, spleen, kidney, colon, and the intestine testicle bladder. Take those out and then analyze the inside of it."
"Ok. Sounds like fun!
We get to . By the time we were done we both had enough of that for the day!
"Eli, will you take the cat to the bucket?" Marena asks me.
"If I do that will you pick up the parts and dispose of them?" I ask her.
We both said "yes."
Once that was taken care of she took half the tools and I took the other half an we cleaned them off. Then we put them away.
We went back to the station to answer the questions on the board. The questions were easy. We finished at the same time.
She turned in both notebooks. She smiled at me. She came over next to me and took out a mini notebook and started writing me a note.
She told me to look away. So I did. I decided to see how Ms. Carah was doing.
"Eww, it touched my skin! Aaaahhh!" She complained as she shook.
