I held my breath as I finally gathered the courage to jump into Emma's pool.

I never knew how to swim, nor did I like to. The feeling of water going up my nose and making me cough made me frown, and I hated how gross my body felt everytime I left the pool.

But once Emma declared that her mom bought a slightly large kiddie pool for the backyard, me and Manny rushed over to dive into the pool.

The pool was filled up to the brim, a singular rubber duck floating on the water's surface. I got on my tip toes then finally jumped in, squealing as I did so. Water splashed all over and JT who was our neighbour watched in awe and laughed viewing the absurd scene of me getting drenched in the pool water.

I slipped and fell down, landing on my knees and giggling.

"Are you okay?" Manny questioned while laughing loudly.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Jump in, Manny!" I replied, playing with the water and splashing some of it at her.

"Ahh, stop! My clothes are getting wet!" Manny squealed, covering her body with her small hands.

Emma laughed and jumped into the pool with me, water splashing into my eyes.

"Ahh, Emma!" I tried to look upset but couldn't help but smile as the water touched my skin.

Emma grinned. "I just wanted to get in the pool!"

JT leaned over the fence that separated the backyards. "Can I take a dip?"

"No boys allowed!" Me, Emma, and Manny replied in unison.

JT frowned. "Not fair."

And that, that was how the last day of summer break went.

"I can't believe we're all gonna be at Degrassi together." Emma commented, painting her nails a shimmery blue colour.

"I hope there will be cute boys." Manny grinned, and Emma playfully punched her in the arm.

"Guys who are actually cute. Not like JT." I shivered. Manny giggled.

"He's not that bad, but... he's not very mature." Emma spoke up.

I went over to Emma's computer and logged onto the Degrassi Reunion website.

"It's crazy how your mom went to Degrassi." I mentioned, scrolling through the pictures displayed on the website.

"Her hair was insane." Manny hovered over my shoulder, grabbing the mouse from me and clicking on one of the photos of Spike.

"Yeah. She was a punk in high school. They called her Spike cause of her spiky hair." Emma commented, blowing on her nails to get them to dry quicker.

"I'm wondering how she got the motivation to wake up and style her hair like that everyday." I scrolled through the pictures.

"Since Spike is at the reunion right now, can we raid your pantry?" Manny asked with a playful grin.

"Ugh, fine. You guys are such freeloaders. When will I ever get to visit your guys houses?" Emma rolled her eyes playfully.

The vibe of the room slightly shifted.

"My parents are kind of strict." Manny pouted, sitting down on Emma's beanbag chair.

"My house is a bit..." I trailed off, my cheeks beginning to blush a slight red tint.

"What's wrong with your house?" Emma asked, turning off the computer and sitting back down on the bed.

"It's a bit small. And uhh.. it's just not that great."

"So?" Emma asked, her eyebrows furrowing.

"So, you can't come over." I replied defensively.

Manny looked at me weirdly then got up. "I'm gonna go to the kitchen."

"I'm coming with." Emma responded, blowing on her nails one more time then running downstairs with Manny.

I sighed and burrowed my face into Emma's pillow that was on the beanbag.

I'm tired of being the odd one out.
