Raven sat on her bed alone looking at the box in which she had locked away Malchior's book. God it hurt. That moment she realized he didn't love her, never did. She was just his means to freedom.
Suddenly there was a knock at her door.
"Raven? It's me. Look. I'm sorry." It was Beast Boy.
She walked up to the door, not close enough to trigger the sensor to open it but close enough to hear the changeling clearly through the door.
"For what? You're not the one who..."
"I'm sorry he broke your heart." He cut her off catching her off guard
"I know it was all a lie. But he was the only person who ever made me feel like I wasn't...creepy. And don't try to tell me I'm not." She replied. He couldn't understand how much that hurt to say.
"Okay. Fine. You're way creepy. But that doesn't mean you have to stay locked in your room. You think you're alone, Raven, but you're not."
Raven's eyes went wide as he spoke. In that moment she had never felt more alone and it was like he knew that. Without thinking she went through the door and embraced him. He went stiff for several seconds and she was about to let go when suddenly she felt his arms come to embrace her and everything crashed down on her. In moments she was crying.
He took her back into her room and stayed with her for hours assuring her that she wasn't alone.
Later that day she found herself coming out of her room. In that time she realized they now knew what Malchior had done, not all the details but enough to know he'd hurt her and hated him for it. They were there, they wanted to listen, wanted to help her heal.
She had also overheard a conversation between Robin and Beast Boy where the latter had confessed he loved her but feared she would never love him back.
She sighed as she left her spot eves dropping at the door to Robin's office. If only he knew.
"I would... I do" she thought aloud unaware of a certain cybernetic teen standing within his own hearing range "... but you wouldn't if you ever knew."
'Knew what, Raven what are you hiding?' he wondered wishing she didn't try to carry all of her burdens alone, wish he knew what words to use to get her to give up some of her emotional baggage to them to help her with.
She went back to her room.
Then it came the prophecy was fulfilled but to her shock her team took the last gift she could give them and used it to save her and she managed to save the world.
It was about three in the morning when Raven woke her pillow wet with tears. Why had she had that dream now?
Beast Boy was in the living room channel surfing through infomercials trying to deal with a rogue case of insomnia when she entered the room. He turned off the television trying to find out what had her awake at three in the morning.
"Raven..."
A black barrier barred him getting closer but of course the changeling didn't give up.
"Raven what is wrong?" He asked gently.
"Nothing..." she said despair overshadowing her usual monotone
"That's a lie Raven and we both know it!" he replied.
The barrier dropped as it seemed she realized he wasn't going to give up. Either that or she was too exhausted to hold it, Beast Boy couldn't tell. He approached her and, in spite of everything he knew about her, embraced her tightly hoping the contact would encourage her to open up to him.
