"Elvis?" Penny said as they got ready for their shift in their bedroom, "can I ask you something?"

"Of course, my dear," Elvis said, stepping close to his girlfriend, "anything for you, my darling."

"You've been acting distant lately," Penny said, taking his hands in hers, "is anything the matter?"

"No, no," Elvis said, pulling away, trying to hide his frown, "everything's fine. I'm fine."

"You sure don't seem to act like everything's fine," Penny said, raising an eyebrow, "you're avoiding me for a certain reason, Elvis Cridlington."

"I'm not!" Elvis spoke out, "I-I'm just feeling a little bit under the weather, that's all..."

"I don't believe you," Penny said, crossing her arms, a grumpy look on her face, "you don't love me anymore, do you?"

"What?!" Elvis yelped, "no! No, of COURSE I love you! You're my life! My world! I just-"

"Then tell me what's wrong!" Penny said, looking up at him with pleading eyes, "a relationship has communication in it, Elvis."

"I-I can't..." Elvis said, rubbing the back of his neck, "not just yet. Now's not the right time."

"Then if you can't tell me what's the matter, this relationship is over," Penny said, "I just can't do it anymore. Goodbye, Elvis."

"Penny, don't leave!" Elvis spoke, trying to grab her and hold her close, but she turned away and started to storm away. "No, God!" He screamed, slapping his face, "dammit!"

"Elvis, I just-I just feel like you don't love me anymore," Penny said, her eyes starting to well up, "you haven't kissed me for what feels like forever. I just feel like we're growing apart. I-I don't even know if I love you anymore."

"Penny, please!" Elvis said.

"No, Elvis. It's over."

Penny turned and started to walk away.

"Wait!" Elvis cried out. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him. He got down on one knee and pulled out a simple yet beautiful ring. "Penny..." he spoke, "I-I've been so distant lately because- because I was gathering the courage to ask you: will you be my wife? Will you marry me? Be mine? I-I-" He broke down into tears, falling to the ground.

"Oh Elvis..." Penny said, getting down beside him and kissing him, "I'm so sorry. I didn't know, I didn't know..."

"It's alright," Elvis said, wiping his tears away, "but, will you marry me?"

"Yes Elvis, I will marry you."

"So does this mean, you'll take me back??" Elvis asked, joy written all over his face.

"Yes!" she threw her arms around him, kissing his face, nose, and neck. Once they parted, Elvis put the ring on her finger. They looked at each other and blushed before kissing.

"Oh Penny..." Elvis said as he stroked her blonde hair, "I'm so sorry... I love you..."

"I love you too Elvis," Penny said, kissing his lips, "I-I have to tell you something..."

"What is it, darling?" Elvis whispered in a husky voice, "is it bad or good?"

"It's good," she replied as she pulled out something that made Elvis gasp and blush- a pregnancy test. And there were two lines on it, indicating it was positive.

"Oh my God..." Elvis said, cupping a hand to his mouth, "you're pregnant."

"Yes I am," Penny giggled, "with your baby, Elvis."

"Oh, this is the best news!" Elvis said, pulling his fiancé into an embrace, "we're going to be parents!"

"Yes, we are," Penny said, and then they kissed again.

15 years later...

Elvis opened the bedroom door. There, sleeping in the bunk beds, were his 14 year old twin daughters, Angelica and Elizabeth. They had been born 5 months after Elvis and Penny had married. He smiled and said, "goodnight, girls," and closed the door before walking to the room right across from the other.

He opened that one. There slept his 3 sons, 11 year old Michael, 6 year old Luke, and 3 year old Elvis Jr., the last of whom was the spitting image of his father, with his jet black hair, blue eyes, and clumsiness.

"Goodnight, boys," Elvis said, and then closed the door, smiling. Then he walked back to his and Penny's room, and looked into the crib. There slept the youngest Cridlington-Morris child, a little girl named Phoebe, who had just turned 1 year old.

"Goodnight, my baby Phoebe," he smiled, then lay down in the bed next to Penny.

"I see you finally got the baby to sleep," he smiled and kissed his wife.

"Yes, and I'm ready to sleep," Penny groaned, "are the others in bed?"

"Yep," Elvis said, snuggling up to her, "everything's all great."

Penny smiled and rested her head on Elvis's chest, smiling and sighing. She looked up at her husband and whispered, "I have to show you something."

Elvis smiled, "what is it?"

Penny pulled out a pregnancy test, with a positive result. "I'm pregnant."

Elvis gasped, "really? But- but we have 6 kids!!"

"Well, it happened," Penny smiled, looking down at the test, "what do you think?"

"I'm amazed," he replied, pulling her into a tight hug, "this is amazing! We'll tell the kids in a few months!"

"Do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?"

"Twins again."

"Oh stop it."

"No, I'm serious. Triplets."

They sighed and closed their eyes, falling asleep in each other's arms. And to think that this had almost never happened. Who knows what could have happened if Penny hadn't listened to Elvis for just 1 moment to let him speak. Things could have turned out very, very different...

But thankfully there was a happy ending for this story, and everything turned out fine.
