Chapter 2: The Rescue

Things were falling right into place for Ebony Maw, one of Thanos's most trustworthy children. He had never once failed Thanos, and did not plan to fail him now. Only one task remains, how was he going to remove the time stone from Strange's body. Maw was not naive, he knows that Strange is powerful and that getting the stone was not going to be an easy task. Strange was currently lying unconscious on a slab of concrete, and that's when Maw decided to use a unique form of torture and interrogation to get Strange to hand over the stone. Maw smirked menacingly and went to work arranging the needles around Strange. Once Maw had finished, Strange had begun to regain consciousness.

Strange woke up in an unfamiliar place still bound tightly and surrounded by sharp objects that looked like needles made of glass fragments. "In all the time I have served Thanos, I have never failed him. If I were to reach our rendezvous on Titan with the Time Stone still attached to your vaguely irritating person, there would be judgment," Maw said as he inched his way toward Strange. Once Maw's face was within inches of Strange's he continued, "Give me... the stone." As Maw's final request slipped from his mouth the microsurgery needles pierced Strange's body in several places.

Little did Maw know that the fight was far from over. Tony had found his way into the alien ship and was analyzing the situation from the scaffolding. There was no great way to save Strange with those needles piercing his body. It was at that moment that Tony felt a tap on his shoulder. Tony, who was petrified about what was behind him, whipped around with his suit powered up. To Tony's relief it was Strange's cloak who seemed to be looking for a way to save Strange as well. "You are a seriously loyal piece of hardware, aren't you?" Tony said while powering down his suit. "Ah yeah speaking of loyalty," Tony turned reluctantly to an all too familiar voice.

Peter and Skye dropped from a vent in the ceiling, and Tony immediately began reprimanding them. "Listen dad, you don't really think you can do this all on your own, do you?" Tony looked at Skye intently, she stared back at him radiating confidence, Tony sighed and nodded his head, "alright come on, we've got a situation." Skye and Peter approach the edge of the scaffolding that they were standing on and begin to analyze the situation below. "Ok I have a plan, have you ever seen this really old movie Aliens," Peter asked as he turned towards Tony and Skye. "OMG I love that movie and I know exactly where you are heading with this," Skye smirked.

As Skye and Peter filled Tony in on their plan Strange was running out of time. Strange was now in immense pain. The pain spread throughout his body like a wildfire. He could feel the pain from his face to his feet and knew that one wrong move could end his life, but Strange would never give up the stone. It may be the best chance the Avengers had against Thanos and Strange was not going to give it away. He would die protecting the time stone. As darkness closed in around him Strange saw a figure slip down from the scaffolding, maybe he wouldn't have to die after all.

"These needles were initially intended for microsurgery and any of them..." Maw paused as he turned to the figure that had landed behind him, "...could end your friend's life in an instant." Maw smirked as Tony stepped from the shadows with his weapons drawn. "I have to tell you he isn't really my friend, saving his life is more of a professional courtesy." Maw continues to smirk at Tony. "You'll save nothing, your powers are inconsequential compared to mine," Maw gloats as he shows off the might of his power. " Yeah but the kids have seen more movies." Suddenly a flying piece of debri hits Maw in the side of the head while Tony simultaneously fires a missile at the outward wall of the ship. Maw and the microneedles were sucked out into the void of space, but before Strange shared the same fate Peter swung in and saved him. As soon as Peter and Strange were clear of the hole Tony sealed it shut.
