*a phone begins to ring across the room from Minho, who was sat peacefully at the dining room table*
"mom?" he lifts his head and turns to look over his shoulder. she wasn't there.
his eyes roll and he pushes himself up off the chair he'd been sat in for the past few hours, he headed towards the phone to answer it for his mother who had disappeared.
"yeah" he says, as he picks up the phone and answers it, gripping it firmly and leaning back slightly.
"Hello! this is Julie calling from your local world wide housing system office! we would like to notify you there's someone interested in joining your household! would yo-"
the phone was quickly snatched away from minho startling him, his mother had barged in as soon as she head Julies voice.
"sorry! that was my son. would you mind repeating?"
Minho's mother was a very kind woman, she would always help out at charities and donate clothes. she loved everyone and believed that everyone deserves equality. a couple of months ago she had signed up to an organisation that allows homeless children to seek safety and love in family homes, removing more and more children from the streets every day.
the phone call goes on for what seems like hours, long conversations with min's mother and father.
"Julie said.. his name is jisung? and he's just younger than our min" minho's mother spoke, not knowing her song was listening to her conversation, taking everything in.
eventually they accept for the person to come and live with them.
minho wasn't entirely thrilled, but knowing there's a boy his age going through something that terrible broke his heart a little more than it should. after the conversation between the adults ended he quickly scurried off to his bedroom, grabbing a pack of cigarettes from under his bed, cracking open a window and lighting it up.
the boy jumped up onto his wide windowsill, that was his favourite place to chill, his bedroom door didn't have a lock, but his parents barely ever bothered to come and see what he was up to as they left him to his own like we wanted.
he leaned his head back against the wall behind him next to the window, inhaling and blowing a gust of smoke out of his nose smoothly.
three days later
"listen Minnie. I know it's gonna be hard having a younger boy around here, but listen he isn't like a step brother, he's just a resident here for a while-"
minho swipes his moms hand swiftly off his shoulder refusing and rejecting her comfort. he didn't like it. anytime anyone would show affection to him he would turn it away or leave, it made him feel vulnerable and embarrassed.
"don't call me that"
his mom tilts her head looking at him with a half disappointed look.
"look, he's going to be here soon. please give him a chance, you never know, you could end up being for lifers!"
"for lifers? really ma? im not a fucking child please get a grip" minho spat, scratching his neck.
his mom knew he didn't hate him, he was just difficult and it had always been like that. she knows deep down he has allot of love for her, but refuses to show it. minho believes love and affection is a weakness.
*the doorbell rings and the boys heart dropped*
"go and greet your band new son then" he says under his breath.
