the sun lifted itself above the trees as the loud alarm from minhos room began to ring violently, disturbing the sweet serenity that was jisungs new room.
jisung lifted his head and brushed his smooth hair across his face as he stretched, looking around and taking in the fact he finally had a room to wake up in again, it had been what felt like forever.
after a few moments, the door to the room slowly creeks open, jisung expected the older boys mother to come and check if he'd woken up, but instead a crazy haired minho pushed himself through the door resting his hand against the doorframe lazily.
jisung gulped, wondering if the older boy was still in a bad mood from last night and was going to be hard on him, or feel better, which he hoped.
"ahh-hey" he says yawning, making Jisung copy him soon after. "my mom was gonna come in.. but I thought that might be a little awkward. do you wanna come get cereal with me? you don't have to but I-"
"yeah sure- I-i mean thanks", the younger said after finally plucking up the courage to get his words out properly, not meaning to interrupt minho, immediately turning slightly red.
hearing his voice made minho smile, but he shook himself rid of it to wake him up. minho felt bad for him, but why should he have to care about jisung? he wasn't his brother or related to him, he was just a stranger.
jisung left his bed as minho waited for him at the door, jisung reached into his quite empty suitcase and pulled out a pair of pink and white slippers that looked a little beaten up.
when jisung realised minho was still watching, he placed them back in and coughed getting embarrassed, looking around for something else to put on his feet.
"hey what's the matter?" minho looks concerned, had his comment yesterday made the younger uncomfortable around him? that wasn't how it was supposed to come off.
"I-i I just" jisung said stuttering like crazy. "they're stupid girly slippers. pft." he said acting like he didn't love them to pieces.
minho gulps. "oh.. that's fine". he'd never really seen boys with feminine clothing or anything. it wasn't like jisung was wearing dresses but it just confused him a bit.
jisung wiped a tear from under his eye, noticing minhos awkward reaction.
"ehm.. ill be down after you, save me a seat" ji nods to minho as the older leaves the room doing as he says.
the boy threw his slippers into his suitcase and pressed his hands over his eyes pressed hard, trying not to let himself cry again.
"man up jisung.. man up jisung" he quietly repeated to himself.
his mother had saved when they were back in London, jisung never liked the style of clothing that was passed to him, but he never complained. not even once. his mom noticed him looking at the slippers in the shop they were outside, so she saved and saved, eventually being able to buy them for him.
when she had enough, she surprised him with this for his 15th birthday, he'd worn them every day since, trying his best to keep them clean.
the boys hands slowly removed themselves from his puffy, red swollen face which was soaked with tears, despite him trying to contain his petty little tears.
he rushed over to the suitcase where he'd thrown the slippers just a moment earlier, grabbing them.
"im so sorry mom. I-i shouldn't have thrown them.. I love you too much.." he said, looking at the beaten up slippers.
there it was again. that intense feeling of guilt he could never seem to shake.
he hugged the slipper close to him and sobbed into it. he felt stupid, but he hated feeling guilty more.
"please forgive me."
jisung sighed and placed the slippers down on the floor in front of him, he wanted to make his mom proud, he couldn't be embarrassed forever. he slipped his feet into them.
his small hand traced its way down the railing of the stairs that he climbed down slowly.
"morning jisung! minhos mother shouted as she saw him.
the small boy smiled at her, cheeks still red from sobbing.
"are you al-" minhos mother began, before getting pushed to the side by a scared minho.
"what happened? why are you upset? was it me? what's the matter sung- jisung?"
jisung was surprised to see the minho cared, another tear left the younger ones left eye which shimmered in the light, full of water.
minho hesitantly moved closer to him, he placed his hand under his eye and wiped the tear away.
"im sorry.. its the s-slippers thing." jisung murmured through sniffing, "but I-its okay I promise"
both minho and his mother look to the slippers he's wearing. "what about them?" the mother says, confused.
"its okay mom. just let me- jisung? I didn't mean to get weird like that. they look nice on you. I pinky promise."
jisung looks up at the older boy, this was the closest they had ever been. jisung felt safer, but for no reason at all?
jisung lifts his arms toward minho but he freaks. minho quickly turns around pretending not to have seen the younger boy's offer for a hug.
minho knew deep down he cared for the boy, but he didn't want to. not after what happened the last time he loved someone so close to him.
