Delilahs POV

I groaned as a blaring alarm woke me up from an amazing dream featuring a young Leonardo Dicaprio. I pouted as I turned off my alarm and sat up in bed, but then fell back down and closed my eyes, about to fall back asleep. However, my mom's shout from downstairs interrupted my attempt at returning to slumber.I hear my mother's voice calling out my name.

"Delilah! Get up, you're going to be late for school!" Reluctantly, I groan as I roll out of bed, struggling to land on my feet without stumbling. As I make my way to the bathroom, I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, noticing the dark circles under my eyes that make me look tired and worn out. I lean over the sink, turn on the faucet, and splashing my face with cold water to try and wake myself up. Looking over at my shower, I contemplate whether or not to take a quick shower, but then remember having taken one the night before. "I had a shower last night... I'll be fine," I mumble to myself, grabbing my toothbrush from the counter and beginning to brush my teeth, hoping the minty taste will help me feel more alert.

"Delilah! Get up, you're going to be late for school!" I groan as I roll out of bed, landing on my feet with a slight stumble. I walk into my bathroom and look at myself in the mirror, noticing the dark eye bags under my eyes. I lean over the sink and splash my face with cold water to wake myself up. Looking at my shower, I think to myself, "I had a shower last night... I'll be fine." I grab my toothbrush and begin to brush my teeth.

After finishing brushing my teeth, I walk over to my closet and select a comfortable outfit for the day. I opted for beige pants and a white t-shirt, paired with a flannel shirt that belonged to my best friend Evelyn. As I put on the flannel, I chuckle to myself and think, "Whoops, I forgot to return this... oh well." I smile, feeling content with my choice of clothing for the day.

I begin to feel my phone going crazy with a deluge of messages. It vibrates incessantly, and I take a look at it. I chuckle as I realize it's my best friend, Evelyn, telling me to hurry up and not be late today. After replying to her message, I put my phone in my pocket and started to tidy my messy hair.

As I walked out of my room and descended the stairs, a delightful aroma of sausages and pancakes filled my nostrils, causing my stomach to grumble with hunger. I smiled as I hopped down the last few steps of the staircase, and as I landed with a thud, my stepfather Mike turned to me with a smile on his face.

"Good morning, Delilah," he said as he took a sip of his coffee. "Good morning," I replied with a smile. Although Mike and I aren't the closest of friends, we still have a connection. After my father passed away, Mike was there to help my mother and me, and for that, I have a lot of respect for him. As long as he keeps my mother happy, he makes me happy too.

I ran over to my mom and kissed her gently on the cheek. "Morning, Mom. Whatcha making?" She smiled as she turned to me, still holding the frying pan in her hands. "Bacon, eggs, sausages, and pancakes - your favorite." I smiled again as I walked over to the cupboards, pulled out a bottle of maple syrup, and poured it over my breakfast. I drowned my pancakes and bacon in it.

After having breakfast, I put my plate in the dish, kissed my mom on the cheek, and ran out of the door, making sure not to be too loud. "Leaving!" I put my AirPods in my ears and chose a song, then jumped onto my bike and started riding to school, I locked up my bike and walked into the school doors.

I was instantly greeted by a corridor filled with students, I automatically felt my heart racing by the amount of people. I was never good with a room crowded with people, I stood there as my breath quickened. I was broken from my trance as I heard my name being called.

"Delilah!" I turned in the direction of where I was being called quickly, a smile automatically displaying on my face as I realized who it was, Evelyn. "Hey..." She smiled as she hugged me quickly "Wait, is that my flannel?" She'd scoffed at me jokingly before wrapping her arm around my shoulders, I smirked as I talked "And what if it is?" she looked at me annoyed but with a smile. I then looked at her outfit, a classic black cropped top with ripped jeans and VANs, her hair down in loose curls, I thought to myself "God, she's so pretty. Why does she even hang around me." We walked down the corridors together before she spoke "What class you got first?"  I then took my schedule out and looked at it before smiling. "English, you?" she groaned "Lucky, I got geography." I'd laugh at her childish reaction, "Well, I'd prefer geography if my English teacher wasn't 6'2 and hot." She rolled her eyes as it looked like her jaw was clenched "What teacher is that?" She questioned as we continued to walk, "Mr. Brewer, why?" she shook her head, her jaw still clenched "Nothing."

The sudden ringing of the bell caught me off guard, interrupting my conversation with a friend who seemed to be clenching her jaw. Realizing that we had to part ways, she pulled me in for a tight hug and whispered, "I'll see you at the break, alright?" I nodded in agreement, watching her disappear into the crowd as she hurried towards her Geography class. As for me, I made my way toward my English class, feeling a renewed sense of excitement as I thought about the prospect of having a hot English teacher this semester. Despite the initial disappointment of starting school again, the thought of this upcoming class had me smiling from ear to ear.

As I walked into my English class a man standing at 6'2 with raven hair and blue eyes looked at me and smiled, I smiled back feeling a slight sense of blush before turning my head and seeing a room full of students I looked down and walked shyly to my seat. I placed my books on the desk and listened to whatever the raven-haired man said, taking notes now and then. I felt vibrations from my phone once again, I looked down at my phone and saw that Evelyn sent me a message. "Jacob and Henry just announced on their Instagram stories that they're going to fight at recess, you gonna watch?" I sighed as I thought to myself "God, teenage boys are so stupid. Who the hell posts on their story that they're going to fight someone?" I wrote back "I don't know... It's a bit stupid." I pressed send as I watched the bubbles from my best friend typing.

She wrote back "A fight is a fight!" I sighed again before texting back "Yeah... okay I'll see you there." I switched my phone off and started concentrating on the raven-haired man again, not long after the bell rang making me jump. I stood up and packed away my books, before walking out and making my way to the main area where everyone hangs out. Assuming that's where my best friend and the fight will be. I then saw a crowd of people, I stood on my tippy toes trying to see where Evelyn was in the crowd. I then saw her at the front of the crowd, her golden blonde hair sticking out, I groaned as I thought "Of course she's at the front, she always makes it difficult for me."

I pushed through the crowd of teenagers hearing a series of groans and 'heys' I just rolled my eyes and kept pushing through, finally meeting my friend. She turned and noticed me, grabbing my arm and pulling me closer "The fights going to start any momen-" Before she even got to finish her sentence a dirty blonde boy and a dark brown hair boy started shouting at each other. Before I even got to say anything, the dark brown-haired boy started throwing punches, it was clear that this was not a fair fight as the dirty blonde-haired boy was a lot bigger than the brown-haired boy. I flinched as they threw punches at each other, some landing and some missing, I admired the brown-haired boy for clearly being brave enough to fight someone bigger than him.

The crowd of teenagers were shouting "Fight! Fight! Fight!" as they pushed and shoved each other. I held onto Evelyn tightly and noticed she was blushing. As I looked back at the fight, it was getting too close for comfort. Suddenly, someone pushed me from behind. I turned around to see who it was, but before I could say anything, Evelyn screamed, "Delilah, watch out!" Her voice was filled with worry. I quickly turned around to see what was happening, but it was too late. I felt a sharp pain in my head and fell to the ground, hitting my head. Everything went black, and the last thing I saw was Evelyn running to my side.
