Xavier Kane

I didn't know what attracted him to me. I wasn't special. I was just plain old Kat Ruiz. The girl who spoke through her violin.

It started in when I moved to Shadowood in 6th grade. I'm wasn't a social person and I didn't speak to anyone. I wanted to be anything but noticed. I sat alone at my own table when someone sat in front of me. The boy the whole school adored. He was incredibly smart, handsome and confident. Xavier Kane.

"Hi." He said. The word was simple yet it took me awhile to comprehend that I was the one he was speaking to.

"Hi." I whispered finding myself in awe that someone was actual speaking to me. My parent were all for me making friends but everyone in Shadowood seem...different. He was so cute, jet black hair, brown caramel skin which suited his eyes and a cocky smile displayed on his face. I had no clue why he would sit next to me.

"I'm Xavier."

I nod.

"And you are?" He asked pushing on. I guess I should be polite and tell him though I was still confused to as why he would sit with me.

"O-oh...um...I'm Kat."

"You're very beautiful Kat." I loved the way his name rolled off of his tongue. So this is how he starts a conversation. Well, he was very forward.

My cheeks turn a bright red and they get even redder when I realize that I'm blushing in front of him.

"Thank you."

"Where did you move here from?" He asked.

"M-Manhattan."

"That's a long way from Washington. How do you like it here?"

"It's okay. Your the only person that's really spoke to me."

"I have lots of friends who would love to meet you. It'll be easier for you to adjust if you know some more people." Before Xavier, I didn't know somebody could have that many people to call his friends.

My eyes widened.

"N-no. I-I...they wouldn't like me. Plus I don't want friends." I stutter but, to my advantage, I get my point across.

"Not even me as your friend" he genuinely looked hurt. I just met this boy a minute ago and it already felt like I've known him for years.

"I don't know Xavier. Why do you want to be my friend?" Maybe it was just me being my introverted self or maybe it was me never having any boys that were my friends.

"Because I like you Kat."

"Y-You just met me."

"I know that and it's been the best two minutes of my life meeting you Katerina Ruiz."

"H-how?"

"Xavier!" A group of guys called his name across the cafeteria.

"I'll see you in Gym Kat."

I didn't know how he knew my full name or even how he knew my schedule. It wasn't even the weirdest thing I noticed about him. He'd protect me from the dodgeball in gym class. He'd wait for me at the end of class. He'd even walk me home. He was also the only one who wanted to hear me play the violin. We would have lots of deep conversations but he did most of the talking.
