THE SOMNUS

A Week before the tragedy

The voices start to muffle as trees start to look like blurs in the distance, a feeling of light-headedness starts to make my legs falter and shake, and my team runs around me trying to make my eyes focus as the disease courses through me shutting down my nerves paralyzing me as my eyelids flutter shut and I feel a sharp pain on the back of my head before everything goes black..

A pitch ringing sound dents my eardrums when I feel something small trickle down on the side of my head, my bloodshot eyes break open as the blurry surroundings return to focus, words try to escape my throat but they are pulled back as I realize that my daughter wasn't asleep anymore but standing in the doorway telling me about the nightmare she had, except, she looks... younger, I turn to the mirror next to me as my eyes widen and my brows shoot up, I... look younger, I rush to turn the light on while my daughter is asking me where I'm going, I bolt out the door to see no broken mossy buildings, loud noises caused by the very much awake people roaming the city, the date on my phone flashes me a realization that almost brought my shaking body to my knees, it's 2024 April 6th, one week before the world turned to ruin...

"What the... hell?" I said confused, I turned to look at my now awake daughter still standing by the door "Daddy? Can I sleep with you on your bed please???.." she asked while making those puppy eyes as if I was gonna fall for it.

"...and I did." Looking disappointed with myself,
my daughter in my arms as I stroke her soft brown hair..slowly she dozed off to sleep and it doesn't seem like she is having a nightmare now... "ha...gosh, I guess I did go back in time after all... now..let's see..the disease will come after a week and I don't think anyone's gonna believe me if I tell them that a freaking sleeping disease will spread worldwide. I wouldn't do that either" I took out my journal and grabbed a pen from the drawer as I opened the journal

"Hmm...it's best if I first gather the materials and Supplies needed and tell my friends about it..if they believe it then they are good to go but if not then I guess this time they gonna sleep too" I muttered writing on the book "Daniel was a huge help during my first life, he knew a lot of survival skills because he makes videos of em..but he died later on cus he was too reckless..and I doubt he's gonna believe me but it's best if I get him on my side by telling him about it...hm." I wrote some more in the journal while thinking of any useful people who might have had a good or useful part during the breakout of the virus.

"Gamers are a good addition to the team..and I know one guy but..will that kid even listen? You know what? I'm just gonna write down the useful people, go over them, and then just try to get them on my side" I kept writing while thinking of a plan for this..and suddenly I remembered one guy. "Oh YEAHH...that girl..she was very helpful since she was a nurse but I forgot to ask for her name, of all things why did I forget that? Forget it I'll do the rest tomorrow I'm already tired and I definitely can't sleep during the virus outbreak...wait..now that I think about it, how did it even start?.."

(Authors note: I'm gonna cry...I don't know WHAT MORE TO WRITE!! My brain hurts 😭😭)
