I could taste freedom. It tasted crisp, the minty air was something I didn't think I would smell in my life again. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to escape those horrendous hands that kept me captive in that cell. Though, I couldn't have done it without a certain group's help who heard my case of pleads, and came to my rescue. An organization that was labeled as an illegal group since the United Nations no longer needed the groups help, and had signed the Pertras Act, outlawing further activity that Overwatch made. Overwatch was their name, had been disbanded for at least five years but recalled members to get back together to fight Talon, and another omnic crisis.
I have to admit, seeing how welcoming they were was certainly something else, I thought they would rescue me, and be done with me. How wrong I was. The quarters they stayed at were nice and tidy, and the air conditioning was perfect. I had already introduced myself to a few of the others, one had been following me around and made a lot of chit chat, Genji Shimada and Mei-Ling Zhou, two people I considered trusting, understanding, and best friends. Mei told me her story, I never felt more empathy than how much I felt for her. Imagine how lonely she must have felt. And Genji, his story was similar to a story I once heard. Two dragon brothers' bond was stronger than anything around, until the blue dragon became greedy and murdered his own sibling, before regretting the second his brother hit the ground.
With how Genji told his part, it was clear people villainized the blue brother and twisted the story. It was sickening. As I walked the area, I noticed someone hitting alone with a bow by his side, a tattoo covering most of his arm and part of his chest, a blue ancient dragon. The man was on his knees like he was praying, his hands on his thighs, and his head tilted forwards. I slowly approached him, trying not to startle him.
"You are Cobalt Deece, the new ally in Overwatch. Yes?" His words caught me off guard. How could he have known I was there? I swore I was being quiet. The boy slowly turned his head to face me, opening his eyes. It was like he was looking at his prey, getting ready to strike. I was still new, so I worried about getting into fights and with my reaction time, I would be a goner. For my safety, I took my crossbow out, keeping my distance to make sure I wouldn't be attacked or cause any hostility between us.
"Y-Yes, I am. Cobalt Deece. Could I ask who you are?" His eyes locked on my crossbow, standing up and picking his bow up from the ground. His eyes averted back to mine, causing me to flinch. How can someone's eyes be so quick like that? It was almost scary.
"Hanzo Shimada," another Shimada? Was this Genji's brother? "I assume Genji already told you my name and about me. Tch, that boy can't keep his mouth shut, even if his life depended on it," Hanzo's voice was cold, and it was certainly noticeable too, he wasn't afraid to hide it. I carefully placed my crossbow back in the belt's holster, sighing with relief that I wasn't gonna get attacked. Genji said Hanzo can be hostile, only if the other showed it first.
"I apologize for pulling my weapon on you, Mr. Shimada-"
"Refer to me by my name. No need to be so formal."
"Ah-Right, sorry. Yes, your brother already told me about you, but he never said any names. All he said was he forgave his brother for destroying his body and that he understands it wasn't his fault," I noticed what I said, quickly covering my mouth. Ugh, I hate when I do stuff like that. His eyes widened, listening to the words I slipped out, feeling guilty as I watched his eyes soften.
"Don't worry, I already know he forgives me," Oh my goodness, what a relief. I smiled. As I turned to get ready to leave, I bumped into someone, keeping my balance, I looked in front of me to see someone with a beard, and a hat. A cigar in his mouth that was barely lit. He must have had it in his mouth for a while if it was no longer smoking.
