You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
She's going off about something
that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor
like I do
I'm in the room,
it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music
she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do_________________________________________
«this will be interesting»
I looked at the file in my hands, looking over the one piece of paper that was there.
«Is there anything else?»
I closed the file and looked up at Farah, who was sitting at his desk in front of me.
«No, only this; I believe it comes from a dormant lineage»
«Will I see what I can do, something else?»
«No, you can go, thanks Avery»
I smiled and walked out of the office carrying the file with me.
I went back to the ground floor to finish fixing up my office.
I put the file in a drawer and then pulled out of the box, which I had left on my desk, the vase containing one of the plants given to me by Terra.
I sighed as I pulled out the frame of an old photo, depicting me, Ben, Farah, Saul and Andreas.
I put it on the desk and then took off the box, leaning it in the corner of the room.
Then I grabbed the appointment sheet and left it hanging by the door entrance as I left.
I spent my whole life here in Alfea.
I had attended classes, I had graduated and now I was working here, as a teacher of the history of magic and consultant to the boys.
I had no idea who my parents were, and after all this time, I couldn't care less.
Alfea was my home, she always was.
Like a lot of these guys.
I looked out onto the main courtyard, so I could better identify this year's freshmen.
«Did you think to go to greet me or should I have waited?»
I turned already smiling, having recognized the voice; and having become accustomed to it.
«we met two days ago»
I looked up as I was overwhelmed by his arms.
It took twenty seconds then it fell off and I could finally slap him on the neck.
«I thought you were with your friend»
Sky looked up to the sky, before joining me and watching the freshmen with me.«will be somewhere to smoke»
«You know you shouldn't tell me, right?»
The boy shrugged and crossed his arms, leaning against Almuro.
«oh, I go to greet Earth, this is his first day»
I patted them on the shoulder and then walked over to the girl I had spotted earlier.
«Earth how is the first day?»
I noticed the girl beside Terra sighing of relief when I interrupted their conversation.
«All right, these are Aisha and Musa, my roommates»
«Fluid fairy and mind fairy»
I looked at Aisha's arms, which were busy carrying a huge amount of cookies.
«How do you know?»
«I've read the registration forms, I'm Avery Rhydle»
«He will teach us the history of magic this year»
Smiles as Terra explained some details of my profession.
I had known Terra and her brother Sam my whole life, having spent all my years here in Alfea like Ben, her father.
«I guess I'll see you in class, it was a pleasure Miss Rhydle, but I have to go for a swim»
That's when Ben walked by with something in his hand.
I curled my eyebrows while his daughter stopped him and he hid the handkerchief in his pocket.
I turned away and realized that Musa was gone, so I decided to go finish reading my book outside in the open air.
I slipped away and walked to my room, which was on the same floor as the freshman rooms.
I released my breath once inside and reached my bookstore to get the book.
Once I grabbed it, I went back out and headed for Ben's botanical garden.
It was the only quiet place where there was never a soul.
Usually they all gathered in the courtyard where specialists trained or in the inner pavilion.
I smiled as a slight gust of wind caressed my skin; I sat on one of the stone benches and let the sun think to illuminate the yellowed pages.I was able to read two chapters before I could feel myself being watched.
I looked up and went through the surrounding garden, before a voice behind me made me jump.
«pecked again»
Smiles, then I dropped a slap on the shoulder of the man; while he sat at my side.
«What is the reading today?»
I showed him the cover while he read it out loud.
«The origins of the Phoenix»
«I thought you were explaining to the freshmen the training of specialists»
He looked up at the sun before looking back at me.
«Sure, then I went to look for you in the inside pavilion; where I met Sky and she told me that she had seen you sneaking away; it was understood that you were here»
Smiles as she approached and kissed me on the cheek.
«I thought you wanted to take a look at the freshmen»
«I talked to Terra and met two of her roommates; but you know all those emotions are not good for my head»
I closed the book and rested it by my side as I turned to my interlocutor.
«I don't want to know what happens in your head when we're together»
«Trust you don't want to know Saul»
I got up, retrieved the book, and left all hope that I could finish reading in peace.
The specialist got up and followed me as I walked to the school entrance.
«I've seen her quite stressed Earth before, maybe I should go from her room»
«Do we want to talk about the books you are reading?»
I unwittingly pressed the book to my chest even more.
«I will not discuss this again»
«then tell me what's wrong»
Saul stopped and I imitated him, ending up looking at each other in the eye.
He came over and laid both his hands on each of my shoulders.
