- So, care to tell me what exactly happened there? - John asked as him and Sherlock were heading back to their position.
- Nothing. She was sick two days ago, roller-coaster could compromise our mission, that's all. I was just thinking ahead, as always.
- No, you were thinking in the spur of the moment. Sherlock, you're not stupid, you may not be a doctor but you know I made up that roller-coaster thing back there. She's completely fine. Besides she took a digestive pill before we came here anyways. What is the matter with you today? Are you high?
- A pill? - Sherlock turned stopping John in his tracks - What pill? I didn't see her take a pill.
- What? It was just a pill to prevent her from vomiting. We knew we're going to an amusement park, we all took one just in case.
- But what was it? Is it dangerous?
John took a step back from his partner.
- Sherlock you're panicking.
- Panicking? I'm not. What was the pill? What was in it? You must've seen the label, what if it's dangerous?
- Will you stop that? You're scaring me and causing a scene. Do you want us to get caught on purpose? Pull yourself together for once!
- John you're a doctor - just tell me, was it a dangerous pill? Side effects? Anything fatal?
- Well, if it was fatal, we would all be dead by now. What happened to your logic, did you take morphine this morning? Or something worse?
- Not fatal for people, John, fatal for - like - things. Smaller. Like organs?
John just stood there for a couple of moments not believing what he just witnessed. They were on a case, important one, a mission to find a serial killer, murderer of many children and prevent him for attacking again and his brilliant-minded partner was causing a scene over digestive pills? He couldn't believe it. He shook his head.
- You know what, here - he reached his hand in his pocket and pulled out a box of pills they'd all taken before - Knock yourself out reading the label. Have a blast, and I'm going to find our suspect on my own. You're impossible to deal with today.
And as John walked back to the food stands, Sherlock stood there processing the label and calculating the chemicals. He felt a relief, there were no side effects that would harm you and the baby. He felt silly as he put the pills in his coat pocket and looked around for his partner. But he didn't find him by the food stands. Sherlock looked all around before he saw it - John was running after a man in a black leather jacket. Just behind the parasols and many crowded park attractions.
Sherlock ran after them. He passed the crowds of people, food stands and ran behind the park exit. He heard the footsteps leading to an abandoned metro station so he ran downstairs. Only to run into John.
- Where is he? Did you get him?
There were only a few rows of light in the old station, and the rest of the underground was pretty dark.
- Do I look like I got him? Do you see him in my hands? In handcuffs? Then, no, Sherlock, I didn't get him. What are you doing here anyways, I thought your inner alchemist came to life, obsessing over digestive pills.
- That was... a mislead, I apologize.
John sighed.
- Doesn't matter anyway. We lost him again. There is no way we'll catch him in public place again.
- Don't worry about it. My homeless connection will find him. I informed them on time.
John sat down on the ground sighing. Sherlock sat beside him and they both sat there in silence for some time.
