"WHO ARE YOU?"
He looked around, trying to remember- anything at all. Pinned to the wall, it was getting a little harder for him to breathe.
"I... I... don't know," he stuttered.
The weird man in front of him let him go.
"What were we doing?" said the man, and looked behind, but apparently, there was no one behind him. He yelled in frustration.
And then they realised that both of them were standing in an extremely messy room of some sort. The lights were dimmed so much that it was hard to see details of anything. The light was a pale yellow, but there didn't seem to be a source of light. In fact, it was almost dark. The man who was pinned earlier had no memory of entering this dark, creepy room. In fact, he could not remember anything.
The moment he could move his legs as things started to settle in his mind, he didn't like it here anymore. He ran to find the door, but he kept bumping into people. Were they people? He could have sworn one of them was some kind of fruit with a knife, but he ran away.
When he finally found the exit, he opened it, and ran out as fast as possible and shut the door behind him.
It took him a moment to register that things did not look normal outside either. But then again, what was supposed to be normal? The last thing he could remember from before his memory was wiped out was that he had been working on something... something exciting. He had just finished building that thing, but he still could not remember what it was that he had built.
He was standing in some kind of a graveyard. Wait, was it a graveyard? There were no tombs. Just animal skeletons lying around everywhere. No trees. He looked up, and noticed the sky was pitch black. No stars. He didn't know how he was able to see in such darkness, until he noticed his cap was glowing bright. He took it off and examined it.
It didn't take him long to figure out that he had made this cap. It definitely used his own scientific principles. While the inside of that room he was in was dark, it was nothing compared to what it was out here. He was scared to go out in such darkness, but he was also curious on what was going on. He needed to know. So he bravely took a deep breath and began following the bloodstained path which seemed to be made out of bones.
He shivered. He wasn't sure he liked this place so much. He began to walk faster, but he kept getting the feeling that he was being watched. Eh, probably just his imagination.
The bone path was getting wider and it didn't seem to end. Everywhere outside seemed deserted. He felt like going back to that old room.
"I smell human," came a voice so quietly and suddenly that he fell.
Something fell out of his pocket. He picked it up, but then he ran. He did not like the sound of someone being able to "smell human". It sounded like there was a cannibal around. He ran away as far as he could and looked down at the thing he picked up.
It was some sort of a badge. It said "Marky" with a photo. It was some sort of identification. Then he looked at the clothes he wore and the one in the photo. It hit him. His name was Marky. There was no last name.
That was a terrible name. Why would anyone name him Marky? Mark sounded cool, sure, but Marky just sounded so wrong.
Then he heard a roar. This wasn't good. He kept the badge in his pocket and ran for his life. Whatever this place was, he was not safe at all. So he ran as fast as he could, not looking back. When he turned around, he saw an outline of a four-legged creature chasing him, but at the same time, also the shape of a human. This wasn't a cannibal. It was a talking creature.
Okay, he was clearly going crazy. But he was still running for his life, because this creature looked so real. And this creature was extremely agile. He did not know how he was supposed to turn his cap's light off. If he could, that would be good.
And then he realised, he didn't need to. If he threw his cap towards the side, and ran the opposite way the creature would follow the cap and he could run the other way. Even though this creature could "smell human", he would probably go by the sight first. He stopped and stood still, and faced in the direction of the creature.
The creature was getting closer. It was now or never.
Marky closed his eyes for a second, getting a moment of peace as he heard the growls getting louder and louder. And then, he threw his cap as hard as he could towards one side and quickly made a run for the other side.
The creature saw the cap and paid no attention to it. It ran towards him anyways.
