Part 19

You don't even know how you arrived to the hospital, but you knew it was quick. Tony was surely going over the speed limit, seeing how distressed you were. He kept looking at you the whole time, seeing the tears rolling down your face.

As soon as he parked, you literally ran inside, asking a nurse where his room was. As soon as you were told, Tony followed you there. You met Amanda in front of the room, talking on her phone with somebody.

"I gotta go." She told the person and ended the call before looking at you. Her gaze narrowed as she noticed Tony was there with you. "Y/N."

"What happened? Is he okay?"

Amanda shook her head. "I don't know. He got sick this morning and they're keeping him here for observation."

"Can I go and see him?" You asked and she nodded.

"Yes, he's awake."

As you entered the room, Tony was about to follow you but Amanda stopped him. She looked at you, seeing you, thankfully, didn't notice what was happening between the two of them. Amanda closed the door and pulled Tony aside. She saw a doctor going inside the room and she knew she had some time to talk to Tony.

"Did you and Y/N get here together?"She asked.

Tony raised his eyebrow, looking down at the woman. How stupid could she possibly be? "What do you think?"

"What's going on between the two of you?"

"That's not your business, Amanda."Tony replied. "Stay out of things that don't concern you. You and I were never anything more than a simple-"

"Will you quiet down?" She hissed."Don't speak so loud. I just want to remind you about what we agreed to. We won't speak about that to anyone. I want to make sure you haven't told Y/N about it."

"Do you think she would act like this if she knew?" He asked Amanda, who looked relieved. "I don't know why you're so concerned about her-"

"Her?" Amanda interrupted him. "Do you think I care about your little fling? Yes, a fling, because that's all you are to her. She'll dump you as soon as she gets bored of you. But then again, that's what you did to other girls out there. It's what you deserve. You two deserve each other. I'm not concerned about her. I'm thinking of what will happen to me if anybody finds out. I will lose everything because of a mistake that happened years ago. So no, I'm not doing this because I'm still attracted to you." She knew that was a lie. He was Tony Stark, of course everybody was attracted to him. "As soon as Y/N finds out, she's going to tell him. And if he finds out at all, I'm done."

Meanwhile, as you entered the room your father was in, your gaze instantly fell on him in the hospital bed. You didn't even register the door closing behind you and the fact neither Tony or Amanda followed you inside. You were too focused on your father, who was looking up at the ceiling.

As you entered, he looked at you. You were about to burst into tears again when you saw how he looked, but could barely keep it in. "Dad... " You whispered out, not trusting your own voice.

"Y/N." He sat up enough for you to pull him into a huge hug.

"What happened?" You asked, sitting down on the bed next to him.

He smiled, cupping your face with his hands and wiping your tears with his thumbs. "Why are you crying, Princess?"

"I got scared when Amanda called me." You said. "You never told me what's happening with you."

"Don't be worried. I can handle it."

"How can you say that? You know I'll always worry about you." You were interrupted when the doctor walked in and you got up from the bed, following the doctor with your gaze as he checked something on the chart.

"Ah, Miss Y/L/N, I presume?" The doctor asked.

"Yes. What's going on with him?"

The doctor gave you a small smile."Your father here told us about you. He showed us your paintings as soon as we stabilized him. He's so proud of you. And I have to say, you're a really talented young woman."

You looked down at your father and he gave you a smile.

"Dad... " You smiled back at him, taking his hand in yours and squeezing it.

"What can I say, Y/N? I'm just a proud father."

"Alright, let's get back to the topic now, please." You said and looked at the older doctor in concern. "What's happening to him?"

"Your father already knows, and we discussed the treatment plan this morning, Miss Y/L/N. He wanted me to tell you everything about it. Unfortunately, I have some bad news for you... "

Your heart dropped to your stomach when you heard it.

Tony's head snapped towards the door as soon as they opened. You came out crying and Tony was by your side instantly. You didn't even notice how he was talking to Amanda, or even how close together they were standing.

"What's going on?" Tony asked, tilting your chin up so you could meet his gaze, making you burst into tears again. "Y/N, talk to me. Come on, sweetheart."

"Tony... " You shook your head. "He has lung cancer."
