Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby tiptoed through the dimly lit corridors of the east wing, their shadows dancing on the walls as the light from Scooby's collar cast eerie shapes. The air was heavy with the scent of mold and forgotten memories. Suddenly, a painting swung open, revealing a hidden room bathed in the glow of moonlight seeping through a cracked window.

"Zoinks! A secret room!" Shaggy whispered, his voice trembling.

Daphne, ever curious, stepped forward, her flashlight illuminating a desk cluttered with papers and an old typewriter. Among the papers was a journal, its pages yellowed with age. She carefully opened it, revealing entries that detailed the daily life of the manor's last known occupant, a reclusive author named Edgar Grimwood.

As Daphne flipped through the pages, a newspaper clipping fell out. It was an article about Edgar Grimwood's mysterious disappearance, shortly after his wife's tragic death. The article hinted at foul play, but the case was never solved.

Meanwhile, Fred and Velma wandered through the west wing, uncovering a library filled with ancient books and artifacts. Velma's keen eye spotted a bookshelf that seemed out of place. With Fred's help, they pushed it aside, revealing a staircase leading down to a dimly lit basement.

The basement was a labyrinth of tunnels and rooms, each holding relics of the manor's past. In one room, they found a collection of paintings, each depicting a member of the Grimwood family. One portrait, in particular, caught Velma's eye—a portrait of Edgar Grimwood's wife, Lydia, with a sorrowful expression.

"Look at this, Fred," Velma said, pointing to a plaque beneath the portrait. "It says Lydia Grimwood died under mysterious circumstances. This could be the murder mentioned in the letter."

As they delved deeper into the basement, they stumbled upon a room with walls lined with newspaper clippings and photographs, all centered around Lydia Grimwood's death. It was clear someone had been obsessively investigating the case.
