"Mom!" I yell. "Mom!! Mom!! Mom, Dad!! Vince, Aurel, anybody!!" No response. I start to panic, I don't know what to do. I'm scared, and I kinda wanna cry, but my thoughts disappear when I heard a grunt behind me. I turn around, and from the bushes, a Buffalo came, charging at me with the anger of, well, a bull. I ran for the trees in the opposite direction, and just as I started to climb into one, his horn pulled me down, ripping down into my calf. I scream in pain as I climb back into the tree for safety. I wait in the tree for the Buffalo to disappear, but in the meantime, I have to do something about my leg. I tie my school blazer around my leg, trying to stop the bleeding and as a bandage to prevent an infection.
Later that afternoon, the Buffalo still hasn't moved. I am starting to get thirsty, and there's no water around, which means I have to search for some. The sooner I do, the better. I throw one of my shoes into the bushes, distracting the Buffalo, and I climb down, but I am not fast cause of my wound, and after a while, the Buffalo returns again, storming me yet again. I tried to run, limping as fast as I could, constantly looking behind me, which was a mistake, because shortly after, I fell into a pit, hitting my head on a rock. As I start to lose consciousness, I see the Buffalo, standing tall above me and then being chased away.
When I awoke, it was night. It was particularly dark, except for a few rays of faded moonlight. In the distance, I can hear an owl calling and a lion roaring. I sit up, trying to figure out my surroundings and a way to get out of this pit. I try to stand up, but I can't. Almost as if my leg is pinned down. It seems that the cut on my calf got infected, making it difficult to stand. I'm getting thirstier by the minute with no way out. I then feel the sudden pain in my head. The rock hit my head so hard that I'm bleeding now. I try to find any sign of help that I can use, vut nothing, just a few plants and animals. I then hear a rustle in the grass near me. It's getting closer and closer. And then, as if it were a Springbok, figures leaped over the pit in a chase for food, human like figures. It's difficult to see them since the pain in my head grows stronger by the minute. I can feel I'm about to pass out again when I see that one of these figures is staring at me. It has no face, for it is covered in mud. All I can see is the pair of eyes staring back at me as I lie there helplessly.
