Ianpiero Purignis, the oldest son of a noble elven family, famous for their draconic bloodline that is so powerful, chosen members of their family are able to undergo the rite of Xorvintaal, shedding their elf features to become dragon-kin, and join ancient dragons in a battle for power that will go on until the death of all but one player. Originally Ianpieros denied his family's legacy and traveled the world as an adventure, using his powerful fire magic to change the world for the better. However, with all the good deeds he could do, it never seemed to outweigh the negative things happening in the world. During one of his adventures, while investigating, he came across ancient text about the game of Xorvintaal, and the extent of the game, and the devastation it's caused. Heartbroken to know that he has been on the sidelines, watching as this centuries long game has caused countless tragedies and deaths. Determined, Ianpieros returns home and agreed to take part in the game, as long as his family supported a faster pace to the game, and agreed to change customs to allow refuge to those displaced by the game. After agreements were reached, Ianpieros undertook the rite of Xorvintaal, severing his conn action to the arcane energy that had been with him for his entire life. In exchange, he gained the powers of a dragon. Not all at first, but every victory and piece of the board he claimed, the more his form took the shape of a dragon. On the cusp of ending the game, with his teeth wrapped around the throat of an ancient green dragon, responsible for 1/3rd of an entire continent, he suddenly loses his ability to move. He looks around and realizes that it's not just him, but it seems that time itself has stopped around him. Suddenly, an earth-shattering roar releases from the heavens, and it feels like Ian's body is being ripped apart. Feeling of panic, fear, and confusion rush over him like a tidal wave, crushing his mental beneath the torrent of emotions. His body felt as if millions of needles were pushing past his scales, forcing their way into every part of his body. The pain caused his vision to blur, and then suddenly it all stops. There's no pain, no fear, no confusion....suddenly there is nothing. It feels as if Ian is floating in a white void, and he slowly realizes he's not able to feel all of his body. He musters every bit of effort he can to lift his neck and he can see his body is slowly evaporating. It appears to have started at his feet, moving it's way up his torso, but Ian felt no fear. And then there was nothing. Io had finally become aware of the game his children's' creations was playing, and the destruction it has caused. In a fit of rage, he blindly unleashes a roar that carries a command, a command that the dragons participating in this game would be undone. In what feels like an instant, all three players still alive aren't just killed, they are erased...their physical bodies, the memories of them, their influence over the world...all gone. Bahamut, who has watched the game closely stepped in and vouched for Ianpieros. "Father, this one is young, new to the game, and has only attempted to end the game and suffering caused by the old ones". Frustrated, Io growls. "he has been undone. I can no longer make him what he was". His kid pleads with him "Father, he is a good soul, and I know you don't want to erase that. He..." They are interrupted by Io letting out a roar that shakes the heavens, his frustration of the hasty actions having a negative impact on his domain are in full force. Pausing to ponder, he releases a puff of smoke. "I said I cannot make him WHAT he was, or put him back WHERE he was, but I may be able to keep him WHO he was". Io immediately begins weaving magic. A flame suspended in front of Io burns, at first as small ember, but the more Io works, the brighter the flame. Io continues working, and a figure begins to float in front of him. That figure is slowly being molded into the shape of a dragon, with golden scales. When the dragon figure is complete, it appears to be standing up-right. "Father"...Bahamut  beings to protest before being cut off by Io "If he is truly good, this will be his test. The rage and power of a dragon hidden within the body of an elf. He will need to muster every bit of his will to resist becoming a slave to that rage". As he spoke that last sentence, the figure of an elf appeared behind the golden dragon and touched it's scales. As if it was absorbing part of itself, the dragon began to disappear into the elf, until all that was left of the dragon was a human heart encased in golden scales and dragon wings. Once the elven figure placed the heart into it's chest cavity, the flame hovering in front of him engulfed the body and the body was whisked away. Bahamut, my son.  Since you vouched for him, I have made  him in your image.  He is as much your child as  he is mine, and you will be responsible for his mark on the world.  I wonder what his story will be. I have not personally made anything since you my children, but even gods must right their wrongs." Io, in an attempt to right his wrong has created a were-dragon.
