She was late. And it was all his fault. "Bloody tosser" she murmured while looking for a spare shirt in her bag. Now you'd be wondering why anyone would have a spare shirt in their bag; this wasn't anyone though, this was Amara.

Amara was the most organised person you would meet. She also happened to be the most punctual person alive. On an everyday basis, she had a calm demeanour. Many people found her approachable and she made friends with them quite easily.

She was friendly and warm, was one for equality and didn't quite judge people. Quite forgiving too. But it all went down the drain regarding her getting late.  She wasn't very hyper when addressing issues but getting late? It stressed her out.

Amara was studying Literature. University had begun just two weeks ago and she was already loving the spirit of this place. She had made friends with her housemate Ivy. Their friendship clicked almost instantly.

She was initially afraid. Amara came to Australia from India about a month ago. She was new to everything here. The first few days she was weary. Sure she spent quite some time here in her childhood, but that was long ago. Last couple of years she had spent time looking for different universities offering her versatile courses in writing. And her entire research work had led her back to Perth; where she first decided she wanted to be a writer. Ironic; isn't it?

The first few days were spent setting up her house, and then Ivy took her to different places for the next few days until college started. She wanted Amara to feel at home. They would ride the cycles to the beach for a little picnic or grab a sandwich for lunch at the town park. As much as she missed home, she was starting to settle.

The warmth of the city began growing upon her. Her heart was caught in the weather, the beaches and the calm atmosphere. Salty air and the warm breeze had begun to feel like home. Her house and university were just minutes away from the city beach.

As classes began, she gasped into the atmosphere of the college. In the first few weeks alone, she became an instant favourite to everyone around her; her friendly nature grew upon people So far, she hadn't found anyone annoying or worth a glare even.

Yet.

On the second day of the third week at university, Amara woke up three minutes before 5:30 am and left for a jog. Taking early morning jogs was her favourite out of a dozen things she liked to do. Putting on her workout music, she began laps around the jogging track surrounding the town. She loved how the fresh morning breeze felt on her face as little beads of sweat covered her forehead. She enjoyed the feeling of the atmosphere turning slightly warm as the sun rose.

Another reason why she jogged so early in the morning was because She felt peaceful. Throughout the day, she met up with different people from different clubs and classes. Not that she minded; she rather loved people. However, these were the little moments that helped her reflect upon herself.

She ran past the library and turned towards the football field. Finishing her laps she raced back to her house. She didn't wanna be late; she had an important lesson today. Mr. Jones was just as particular about time and to stay away from his temper being on time was crucial.

"Good morning ms. I'm gonna be so late" Ivy chirped. "Good morning sleephead", I chuckled.

Ivy was exactly the opposite of her friend. She liked staying up, preferred slow mornings and was majoring in theatrics. She had short blonde hair and amber eyes. She was petite, a few inches shorter than Amara's 5 feet 5inch figure. Even though she seemed like an outgoing girl, she had a deep past she struggled with. Ivy had slowly begun opening up to her new friend. Amara was glad she could help her. After all she was the first person who made her feel like a part of this new world.
