The Frontman called every guard and told us to meet in his office, so we obeyed. We went to his office, and saw the big screen which is monitoring the room that the players are currently in. "welcome, guards to the annual squid games. I hope you will each do your jobs correctly, and have fun this year. Guards 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, and 78, please go to where the players are at. Guard 78, please explain everything to the players. Everyone else, please go back to your other jobs." The Frontman says.
We all nod. Me and the other guards he called out go into the elevator to go meet the players. 'ding!' The elevator comes to a stop, and we all step out. We walk into the big room where each player is at. Everyone looks at us, looking extremely confused. I see player 067, Sae byeok, sitting on the ground with her hair being a bit messy.
I didn't expect her to be this pretty.. I thought. I try to forget about the thought as i see her slowly stand up and fix her hair. Me, guard 73, 74, and 75 are standing left side of the main guard, guard 78, who is wearing the square mask. Me and the other 7 triangle guards all hold our guns while 78 explains what's going on to the players. Some players are yelling, saying how they don't believe us, blah blah blah. I've heard it too many times over the past years, and it's getting fucking annoying to hear.
I look around the room and spot 067. I stare at her for a couple seconds, and she looks at me. I look down at the ground, before remembering that she couldn't see that i directly looked at her due to my mask. Oh thank god for my mask, i've never been so glad to wear it! Just then, my thoughts get interrupted.
"attention all players, the first game is about to begin. please follow the staffs instructions. please make your way to the game hall." The intercom announces. Me and the other guards stand in front of the big metal doors, waiting for all the players to line up. When they do, We escort the players into a huge room with colorful pastel stairs that seem like they'd never end. The players all line up to get their pictures taken, and once they do, they line up to walk up the stairs. I catch a glimpse of 067, but i continue walking up, leading the players. After what felt like forever, green metal doors open, while screeching against the ground. We walk into a huge field, which has a sandy ground, realistically painted walls as if we were really outside, a massive ass robotic doll at the end of the field, and the top is open, which shows the actual sky, and i see some birds flying which makes me smile.
Me and guard 75 walk across the field and we each stand by either side of the doll, while the other guards get escorted out of the room. 75 turns his head slightly to face me, and gives me a hardly noticeable thumbs up, as if asking if i'm okay. Me and 75 have become friends throughout the years of working here, and he knows i get slightly anxious during the first game, since players don't know their about to die. And yes, i've worked here for many years, but it's still a bit nerve racking and saddening when players first find out that these aren't just ordinary games, and getting eliminated means they'll die. I barely nod to 75, answering his question.
"please stand behind the white line drawn on the field, and await further instructions." We all hear, from a robotic voice.
All players do as they were told, though they look around while seeming confused. Soon, a robotic voice says "Here is the first game. we will be playing 'red light, green light.' you are allowed to move forward when 'it' shouts 'green light.' stop when 'it' shouts 'red light.' if your movement is detected afterward, you will be eliminated. Those players across the finish line without being eliminated within the five minute playtime, will pass this round. with that, let the game begin."
"Green light!" The players start walking. I see 2 guys, players 324 and 350 (i'm pretty sure) run. "red light!" Player 324 loses his balance, which causes a gun from the wall to go off. I slightly flinch, as i feel bad for the blonde guy. The player falls onto the ground, laying completely still. I notice that many players seem confused by what happened, and i see some players who have shocked faces, as if they knew exactly what the 'bang' sound was. When the doll shouts "green light!" again, players tend to start walking but the guys friend goes up to him. He says something to the dead guy but i can't hear what. 350 then starts to slowly walk backwards with a horrified look on his face, as he saw 324 cough out blood. 350 tries to run but gets shot in the chest. His blood gets onto a woman, player 306's face. she goes up to wipe the blood, before realizing she moved and she screamed. she got shot, then many people started running towards the green gates, trying to escape. Though, it does them no good since they all get shot. Once the gunshots die down, the speaker programmed in the doll speaks. "I will now repeat the rules. you are allowed to move forward when 'it' shouts 'green light.' stop when 'it' shouts 'red light.' if your movement is detected afterward, you will be eliminated. and with that, let the game resume."
