Waking up next to Aria I stared over at her as she lay with her hair fanned around her, and the doors leading onto the terrace open to let air into the bedroom so that we both could sleep better. All her things had also been carefully brought to the master bedroom so that the two of us could actually seem like a married couple instead of a pair of fiance's of an arranged marriage.

It was these moments in the morning that reminded me why I'd agreed to the wedding after years of wanting nothing to do with any of the forming Familia's in Italy. I had wanted my own area to be left alone, where I could control all aspects of the Familia that I was to reign over with any shred of dignity that my mobster father had left for me. Now Eight years later I was laying beside my wife and wondering just how far things had come from then. I'd never admit to any of my family that there was a time that I genuinely believed that Matteo would be the one to become the one who could create the next generation of Salvatorini Don's or Antonio since Luca was more then happy to run Milan and Lombardy for me. Looking at Aria each morning for the rest of my life would be the reminder that even if I could be a monster to many, I had someone to make the good in me come out, and would always be able to make the good in me reveal itself.

Facing her I gently placed a kiss to her forehead and rolled out of bed to shower and get dressed. Pulling on a simple pair of trousers, button up shirt, and loafers I walked downstairs to make coffee and breakfast for Aria since I had to work all day, it would be best to make sure she remained happy during the day, even if there was a high chance she made sure to spend time in my office while I worked during eating times.

My work from home days were often planning how to approach topics in regards to business, and having a body dumped in an alley behind my club was not the most glamourous part of this job, but I trusted Matteo to make sure that the clubs were managed, and other aspects of Genoa were going to the appropriate degree.

Today was mostly my focus on the response to the Chimera. I needed to be certain that their transgressions into Salvatorini territory was how I needed it to be, a daring set up for them to express their own lack of intentional planning. It wasn't easy for the Bratva to enter Salvatorini Territory, and it hadn't been easy for other Familia's either. I could learn about the presence of another Familia in an instant via text, email, or call. It begged the question how they had gotten access both to Genoa without anyone noticing, and also made it into the Familia Villa.

The feelings that whirled like a storm as I mulled over the facts made me more angry. I'd never had a traitor that was so well connected to be able to pull off the kind of diversion that allowed not one fucking person to notice, and if anyone had and didn't say anything they all knew that there was a bullet for anyone who was unable to be honest about their own position, and telling me was a risk but I had leanience something few of my family and even my own siblings had. I was known for the simple fact that I had the capacity for the manipualation of power.

A finger would be effiecient enough for retribution.

Finishing making breakfast and coffee, I made the tray into something stable and carried it upstairs to set down next to Aria's still sleeping frame. She was always so calm in her sleep, like she forgot where she was and the world she was now queen in. Aria was too fucking pure for this world especially by my standards, my siblings and I killed thousands, and stood on the mound of bodies we had killed and buried. Cemeteries were filled because of us and yet I'd do all my killing all over again just for her.

Walking into our bathroom I ran the bath that had its own room I then lit all the candles and returned to my sleeping wife her body having shifted seeking the warmth I'd abandoned on our mattress and was slowly disappearing.

Leaning over her I gently placed a kiss on her forehead and went to move away when her hand wrapped around mine.

"Don't go," she mumbled her eyes peeling open as she stared at me from her place facing the windows of our bedroom while sunlight lit up her face.
