ANOTHER WEEK HAD COME and Nadia could be found sitting in the back of her classroom while the English teacher explained their upcoming project. They were to come up with a short film based on a book by their favorite authors. Nadia was going to pick either Terri McMillan or Suzanne Collins. Two others that write some of her favorite books of all time. But sadly this project required partners, causing Nadia to groan softly because she worked better when she was alone and didn't have any distractions.
The English teacher paired everyone off with the student sitting next to them. Nadia looked over to see that Sam was sitting next to her, and he sent her a smile. She rolled her eyes with a heavy sigh, this was the last thing she needed right now. Sure they hadn't talked since Sam started dating Quinn but she wasn't going to let his relationship get in the way of a good grade in this class. So for now, Nadia was gonna be an adult and push those feelings aside and focus on her work for class. That was the adult thing to do.
The bell rang shortly after and everyone left the classroom. Nadia closed her binder then left the classroom, going to her locker to put her stuff away and head to glee club next. Suddenly she felt a tap on her right shoulder but there was no one there and she turned around to see Sam standing there with a smile on his face. He seemed happy for some reason. "Hey, you." The blonde boy greeted.
"Hi," Nadia replied briefly as she put her binder away in her locker.
"Uh, I just wanted to say that I'm excited to do this project with you," Sam mentioned. "I know we haven't hung out or talked much, but this project changes everything now."
"Yeah, sure," Nadia replied, not paying him attention.
Sam let out a sigh of disbelief. Why was she avoiding him? This had been on his mind since he joined the glee club. They used to be close but now she won't even talk to him about anything and she talked to him a lot during class. "Okay, what's with the silent treatment? I don't understand."
"I don't have time for this, Sam." Nadia shut her locker and walked off, but of course, Sam followed her. She ended up in the library to pick a book to read during glee club because they were just picking out songs to sing for sectionals.
