CHAPTER TWO: AWAITING DOOM

Jackie excused herself from the midst of the ladies who had stopped her while on her way to her boss's office. She did not want her payment by the end of the month to get debited because of useless reasons. When she got to the door, she knocked and waited patiently to be called on to enter which finally happened after a few minutes.

   "Good day, sir. I was told you needed to see me." Jackie said as her boss turned around. He was a man in his early sixties with a bit of potbelly and a stern look. Even with his look, he still had a charming personality as he was considered a father to everyone.

He was no other than Jefferson, the owner of a manufacturing company in an axis. He was in the car manufacturing business. It was divided into two segments. The first part was the ACTION SEGMENT which required a lot many under many divisions to work on the building of these cars while the second part was the OFFICE SEGMENT which Jackie happened to be a part of. The workforce of this Office segment was actually little in comparison to the ACTION SEGMENT.

All they had to do was to supervise, answer the needs of the ACTION WORKERS and give feedback to the boss about how things were going and the complaints alongside this. Every six months, Jeff made sure to have meetings with everyone thrice while he had regular meetings with the OFFICE WORKERS.

Currently, Jackie was one of his most trusted workers and that was why she was the Head Supervisor of all regions. Her job wasn't easy to do then, but she was very hard-working. She could make a difficult task look easy whenever she did it. She was also skillful and had a work attitude that was attractive to many of the workers.

She had been working in the company for seven years and was being promoted from one position to another, they were positions that she deserved based on her intelligence and confidence as a woman.

   "Yes, Jackie. I sent for your presence. How are you doing?"

  "I am good, thank you, sir."

   "Alright. Something urgent came up from the branch at Sunrise City and I need you to be present there to oversee the affairs and then report to me what might be happening."

   "Sunrise City?" Jackie mumbled and Jeff nodded.

   "I have heard about the City before and how poorly they have been performing as a branch."

   "Exactly and that is why I need you to be there. Someone with an anonymous identity reported a few fraudulent activities going on there that I wasn't aware of until a few days ago. For this case, I will need you to go undercover. Not many people know how you look…"

   "Do I really need to? That's a waste of time, boss, because no matter what, they will still find out about who I am, so let me go with my natural look. All I request is that they shouldn't be aware of my coming."

Jeff agreed, "Of course. I suggested the secrecy first so I know how it's being run. Don't inform anyone from here, they don't need to know. Take a look at this [pushed a small note towards her], this contains a bit of detail that you might need. Keep me informed, okay?"

   "I will try my best, sir."

   "When will you be leaving then?"

   "Tomorrow, sir."

   "Alright. The earlier the better."

   "If there is nothing else, sir. I will take my leave."

   "Thank you, Jackie. Please, take care of yourself."

Jackie nodded and exited the office. She had never felt so proud of herself until this moment. Each time she was called by her boss to attend a certain occasion, she was always happy because it meant that her boss trusted her to do it more than anyone else.
