 Rixon

She repeated the question again. “How could you?”

“How could you?!” She was pissing me off now.

“What?! How could I what?!” She screamed, spitting in my face.

“How could you accuse me?! I was at the store!” I yelled, equally angry.

“Don’t lie to me! I’ll tell mum!”

I sighed, calming myself, “This is pointless. Get out.” I point to my bedroom door. Nalla, my current foster sister, walked out, her brown ponytail flowing down her back. I’m actually very close to the unusually tall girl, she just could be a bitch some days. She had been acting very distant the last couple of days. It was strange for her to accuse me of lying. Even more so for her to scream at me. Something was up and I was determined to figure it out.

Just not tonight. Tonight I had business. I walked out the door, ignoring Debbie’s shouts of threats and anger.

I walked across the street to the surrounding trees. As I make my way to our clearing, I hear the sound of drunks and stoners. I near the clearing and feel a sudden jolt of anger.

Jodi.

I start running silently. I now feel other feelings, too. But mainly the burning in the middle of my chest. I slip into the clearing. There were four beings in the clearing, three female, one male. The two similar looking girls were wearing white slips to match their pale complexion and silvery, white, waist length hair. The male had the same hair and skin, except he was wearing a white jumpsuit and a gold ring with a bronze colored pearl that glittered in the moonlight. The last female I knew well. With her dark brown hair and equally dark green eyes. And her rich caramel complexion, she was quite easy to distinguish.

One of the light girls took a graceful leap forward, “Where is he?” She cooed.

    “Who?” Jodi’s voice quivered.

“The one you earthlings call Rixon,” The other girl spoke up, more authoritative. The soft spoken one took another leap forward and Jodi to a step back, her back now against a tree.

“I don’t know!” She yelped as the girl took another leap forward.

“Why is he not here? Trying to protect him?” She leapt forward and grabbed Jodi’s jaw. I felt a wave of terror wash over me. Jodi’s eyes got wider as the girl put her hand over her chest.

“I told him to come! Just as you asked!” She yelped once more, “I told him to come!” Jodi tensed and her hair and skin turned a shade lighter.

“I told him to come!” her voice was softer now, only by a little, but still softer. She tensed and closed her eyes once more, her hair completely turning white and her caramel turning to pale, and the part that worried me the most was that the soft spoken girl looked just like Jodi, only thinner. I took a step forward and they turned around simultaneously. Jodi stared at me in total shock. I laughed a low laugh and took a step forward. “No,” Jodi whispered.

“That was quite the show you put on. Will you be here all week?” I stepped forward and they all took the smallest step back. I laughed again and smirked. “Afraid of a little sixteen-year-old boy?” I met the man’s gaze and after a while his gaze flickered away. “Looking away first is a sign of weakness. A big man like you should know that.”

“Is that a threat?” He asked me, looking at me intently.

“No. When I make threats I make them directly. Like, if you touch me, little man, you’re dead.” I took a step forward. I wished I was a big cat of some sort. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I heard a gasp and opened my eyes. Some kind of growl escaped my lips, cold and menacing.

“She never said he was a shape-shifter!” A light voice said, I heard someone fall to the ground and opened my eyes. Holy shit, I have good eyesight. I saw the girl on the ground. the one against the tree, then I remembered, Jodi was that girl, the one on the floor, passed out. I walked up to her, on all fours, sniffed her. Yup. It was Jodi. I nuzzled her and she stirred. Upon hearing someone move behind me, I turned and growled.

But they were gone. I looked at Jodi and felt a wave of anger wash over me, I took several deep breaths to calm myself, closing my eyes in the process. I felt the cool air on my skin as a stood. I opened my eyes and surprisingly, my clothes were still on me. I picked Jodi and ran home.

I lay Jodi on my floor, on a pile of blankets I had just put on the floor. I lay on my bed and read the time on my clock. 4 a.m.. I stood and took a shower. A feather fell onto my bed, from my back, as I sat down. I walked to the bathroom and turned around, looking at my back.

Wings. Dark gray wings. Fucking. Awesome.

I walked in my room and willed my wings open, then I looked behind me as I felt them open. “Holy shit.” I closed my wings and lay down in my bed, passing out immediately.

Then, what seemed like a second later, Debbie screamed my name, Alycia was here.
