Third Person's POV
Monday Morning
Monday morning had rolled around, it was three days that Edward had been in Alaska and it was three days that Alice and Ronnie were not talking. The car ride to Forks High School was an awkward one as Emmett turned up the radio to try and fill the chilly atmosphere. Meanwhile, Bella Swan was standing in front of her rusty truck and she was pretending to read a book with her earphones in as she looked toward the entrance of the student parking lot, waiting for Edward Cullen to appear. The girl was determined to confront him on his behavior the last time they had class and she perked up when she saw Emmett's Jeep and Rosalie's Mercedes pull into the parking lot. Though Bella deflated when she saw Emmett, Rosalie, Jasper, Alice, Veronica, and Luis clamber out of the vehicles, Edward was nowhere in sight.
Disgruntled, Bella looked back down at her book as Tyler threw a piece of licorice at the back of her head to get her attention. The girl jumped in shock, before turning around to face her friends. He and the others waved her over to them, but she shook the book at them with an awkward smile on her lips before turning her back to them. Her eyes flew over to the latest arrivals and she noticed Alice and Jasper cast looks at her before they turned their heads from her. Bella made eye contact with Luis and she felt a shudder go down her spine before she returned to her book.
"I have a terrible feeling," Veronica whispered to Luis and he looked at her with worry in his eyes. "That girl is going to bring nothing but hell to our feet. Mark my words."
"You worry too much Ron-Ron. Bella will be a wonderful addition to our family," Alice quipped as Veronica sneered at her.
"Did you hear that Luis? I thought I heard an annoying sound, but I can't see where it came from." She said, ignoring Alice as she looked around the hallway.
"You can't ignore me forever," Alice said, wrapping her arms around Jasper's left arm.
"Don't challenge her Alice. Her record is twelve years, seven months, five weeks, three days, and ten and a half hours," Emmett said, as Alice looked at him in confusion. "All I did was forget to remind her of the opening of Disneyland Paris."
The family walked into the school and Veronica looked over her shoulder, her eyes landing on Bella as the brown-haired girl looked up at her. Both girls stared at each other for a few moments before Luis took Veronica's hand and led her toward the main doors. Every sense in Veronica's body was tingling, something telling her that something would happen while Edward was gone. Though for the life of her, she couldn't figure out what it would be.
Gym Class
Veronica was walking out of the locker room and she pushed her hair back, before sliding a thin, black headband over her hair to keep it out of her eyes. She was wearing a pair of grey high-waisted yoga shorts, a black racerback tank with a built-in sports bra, and white Nike socks that she folded down to sit at the top of her white Nike sneakers. Tied around her waist was a grey Adidas zip-up jacket and she had a pair of knee pads on as well. Reaching out to grab the door handle to the gym, she felt someone tap her shoulder gently. Turning around, she saw Bella standing behind her wearing a 'FORKS' grey t-shirt and a pair of black sweatpants.
"Hi, you're Veronica, right?" Bella asked as Veronica nodded her head. "Can I ask you a question?"
Veronica shrugged her shoulders before gesturing for her to continue. Bella cleared her throat before she looked the brown-skinned girl in the eye. "Did I do something to make Edward mad at me?"
"Ahh, Eddie? He's, es como se dice... tiene problemas familiares. Se fue de la ciudad por un tiempo," Veronica said, smiling at Bella before turning to walk into the gym.
