When the end brings us together.

I stood in the base, feeling the sharp chill of the air as it brushed past my skin. The machinery in the room was whirring softly, producing a consistent buzz as it worked relentlessly to analyze and report on the rocks scattered across the planet's surface.

Suddenly, Peridot's voice boomed through the room, "The report on the homeworld's status is almost complete!" The room erupted into cheers, but my attention was elsewhere. "That's good. Is everyone alright?" I questioned, my eyes scanning the room to gauge their response. Pearl's gentle voice broke through the noise, "Yes, Rose. Don't worry, we will be alright... I hope..." Her words were enough to reassure me, and I could see the relief on the faces of those around me.

As the excitement died down, Lapis spoke up, her voice tinged with concern, "Does anyone know how to get a diamond on our team? That would increase our chances of winning our independence." An uneasy silence fell over the room as everyone pondered her question. Finally, I spoke up, "I could get Blue. She was half on my side when we started." My heart sank at the thought that she might have changed her mind after 4,000 years. The weight of our situation was heavy on my shoulders, and I hoped that her loyalty would still lie with us.

As the pinging of Paridot's watch echoed through the room, a sense of unease spread among the group.
