(AKAZA'S P. O. V.)
I watch Douma enter the classroom as he begins to announce that my instructor is ill and won't be attending school for a few days. I felt somewhat upset about his absence. After all, he is my favorite teacher. He's so kind and has great technique! Although, sometimes I feel as if there's something. . . Off with him. It's almost like he's hiding something. Never mind that. What matters is focusing on my project. I've been behind on it due to other assignments so I must stay on task. Heck, I wonder how people in the council manage to keep their grades high. They have an insane schedule yet their work is always complete and proficient!
When working on my assignment I couldn't help but glance at Douma every once in a while. For some reason, his looks enraged me. It's not that he's ugly. He's very appealing! That's the problem. Even with his multi-colored eyes, he's still loved and accepted by the entire school! But when it comes to my unusual hair color, I'm a freak and shouldn't be out in public. Gosh, I wish people would look at me like they look at him. Maybe it's because he's handsome and I'm not? Jeez, why do I have to be so insecure?
After exchanging a couple of glances and glares our eyes finally met. The eye contact didn't last that long. He smiled at me and for a second, I wanted to smile back. However, I remembered what I was supposed to be doing and so I rolled my eyes, pretended I didn't care, then continued my work. Akaza, why would you do that? I thought, feeling stupid. Sadly, at that point there was nothing I could do so I just tried to play it cool, finishing an excellent portion of my project. If I'm being honest, I felt pretty proud of myself! The rest of class was normal until Douma walked towards my desk and handed me a note. It said, "Meet me after class.", with a cute smiley face drawn next to it. I looked up at him, confused, but he just smiled and walked back to the teacher's desk. As the bell rang I began to panic. Did I do something wrong? No, that can't be. I behaved the entire class period! What could this idiot want?!
I slowly, but confidently approached Douma. He was sitting there, happily reading some old book. Looks like this asshole is enjoying his sweet ass time. Suddenly, he looked up from his piece of writing and refocused his gaze on me. Gosh, his eyes are so . . . Addicting. I couldn't tell whether I admired him or loathed him for his beauty. He gently put his book down and asked, "Akaza, right?". I nodded as he continued, "Well, Akaza, I asked you to stay here so we can discuss your unacceptable manners!". I immediately defended myself, saying "What manners? I was behaved the whole time!". Douma clearly couldn't take me seriously so all he did was giggle at my response. After that, he warned me to be more polite towards him otherwise he'd report me to the principal. Although, I couldn't give a shit. I walked off angrily, shoving Douma to the side. I didn't care whether my attitude hurt his pathetic feelings or not. It's not like he can control me. I'm my own person and he should respect that instead of getting butt hurt by some small glares.
But...why?
Why couldn't I keep my eyes off of him? He may be very handsome but it's not like I find him attractive, right? That moment. . . That moment where I kept glancing at him in admiration. How could I do that to someone who I despised so deeply? Well, I'll have to save that thought for later. For now, it's time for lunch.
CHAPTER 2
(AKAZA'S P. O. V.)
I began to make my way to the cafeteria when suddenly, I heard a voice call my name. "Akaza! Akaza, wait up!". I look around trying to figure out where the voice was coming from. Eventually, I turn to see my best friend, Kaigaku, sprinting towards me. As he caught up to me he says,
