He then asked me to dance. But something was off. I felt my knees weakening, my eyes narrowed, my eyes were droopy and even more droopier. When I knew what was happening my heart sank. Before I sank into pitch black darkness I managed to make out a couple of words. "I thought I can trust you". I then saw the biggest grin on his face. Then I saw all black.
I felt as of though I was dreaming. I saw my younger self, she was wearing a red shirt, and yellow pants. She was playing with her dolls to distract her self from her mom and ad arguing over rent money. Dreading her father coming upstairs to take his anger out on her. He eventually came upstairs and her door swung open. "take off your clothes." "is it bath time daddy, can I bring my dollies" "its not bath time take off your clothes and lay down" so she did, she listened to him because that was her daddy. Once she realized she called out for help "MOMMY" no answer "PLEASE" no answer. Once he was done with her he told her she loved her and all that she was good for was her body. She never forgot this moment.
I then woke up in pitch black darkness, I really had to go to the bathroom but I had no idea where I was. I yelled for help. After thirty minutes I heard someone descending downstairs breathing heavily in annoyance. I stepped back as the footsteps got closer. I then felt a firm around my waist. "Hey mama I'm sorry about the darkness I wanted to surprise you" out of reaction I jump "please let me go". I feel his hands drag off my body. His footsteps moving away from me in a fast pace. He then opens the window letting in bright sunrays splashing my brown skin like water. We make eye contact, he looks at me up and down. "what are you looking at" "I'm looking at you armanii I've always wanted someone as beautiful as you, so perfect." "I couldn't wait to have you." "how did you find me?" "you're not hard to find I follow you on every social media platform and you foolishly accepted them making you my next target." He laughed while saying this. I thought back to all those follow request in the span of five minutes three works before I came to LA. "Antonio.." "well my name is toni now its my street name." not that it even matters in this situation. He leaves after this blunt conversation and come back five minutes later. He has a bucket and a plate of poorly seasoned food. "what am I going to do with that bucket" he glares at me. "im not using that bucket." He throws the bucket but misses and hits a floor length mirror in this shoebox of a basement. He grabs me by my collar and chokes me. "you're going to do what I say or else Ill do to you what your father did to you" tears stream down my face as the memory comes back again for the second time. I say in a low tone "how do you know about that." "I know about everything love." He then throws me on the ground as I tried to wiggle out of his grip. I crawl to the corner of this shoebox basement. He crouches down to me moving his dreads out of his face. "I wouldn't have to do this if you didn't have a smart mouth." I look at him acknowledging how close he was, I can smell his breath. It was sweet. He snaps his fingers in my face. "are you listening to me" I nod. "good I'm leaving now and I expect you to stay here and be quiet until I come back and decide to come get you." I nod again "good." He walks away ascending up the stairs. I then get up trying to find a way out banging on the window, trying to open it. It was locked giving me lost hope. I walk towards the broken mirror. I look at myself and my body, tears rushing down my face. Realizing I am worth nothing but my body. "I am the broken glass behind the door".
