"No! I told you to turn left!" I yelled while looking at the confusing road map.
"You said to turn right! You're holding the map backwards by the way." Leave it to us to get lost in the middle of the middle of the desert.
"Can we just stop and ask for directions?" I turned over the map but it still looked as if it were written in Chinese.
"No! Jeez what is it will girls and asking for directions?" He laughed while looking at me trying to figure out the map.
"What is with guys not asking for directions. Does it hurt your man pride or something?" I said while trying to fold the map id given up on, yet another impossible task. "That's it I give up. Look there's a gas station coming ahead, you can refuel while I ask for directions. Ok?" He sighed then gave me one of his dazzling smiles. "Fine. If you think that's best." I nodded and laughed. As we drove into the gas station.
I walked into the old gas station and walked up to the counter. Where there was a person on a stool, leaning against the wall reading a newspaper with their feet propped up on the counter.
"Joe I told you, we're all out of cigarets and won't get another shipment until next week." The man said not moving from his position. I cleared my throat causing him to look away from his newspaper.
He looked shocked. He took his feet off the counter and closed the newspaper. He looked young and pretty handsome even though he had a scar that stretched from the middle of his top lip toward the side of his bottom lip. "I'm sorry Miss I just don't get a lot of visitors around here." I smiled politely. "Well I guess a lot of people don't go to the middle of the dessert for gas." He chuckled. "I guess not." He gave me a price winning smile that must have won over a lot of girls.
"I'm Justin by the way." He said holding his hand out for me to shake. "Arizona." I said shaking his hand. "So what can I do for you Arizona?" He said letting go of his tight grip on my hand. "Well you see I'm sort of lost. I'm looking for the Sunlight Motel could you tell where that is?" He moved away from the counter and pointed me toward the main road.
I jumped into the passenger seat of the car and waved out to Justin. "So that Justin guy?" Chase asked while raising his eyebrow and taking his eyes off the road. "He was nice." I shoved him playfully. "Get your eyes back on the road." He raised both his hands off the steering wheel in defense. "Oh my god, put your hands back on the wheel." I chuckled. "God it's like your trying to get us killed." I turned on the radio and we rode to the motel in a comfortable silence the whole way down the abandoned road.

"I'm telling you we're lost." I said while looking in the glovebox for a bottled water. "No, I'm sure we're almost there." I took out two bottles. "Come on. I'm tired could we just lay down in the backseat. We have plenty of blankets in the back and I brought pillows just in case." He frowned the gave me a gentle smile. "How are you always so prepared for everything?" I laughed. "Well you know me, I'm always ready for anything."
We pulled into the next truck stop and parked for the night. We got into the back of the car and fixed the seats so we could lay down in the trunk.
I snuggled into Chase's chest as he pulled me into his tight embrace. Then I felt him smile into my hair then smell it. I giggled and hid my face in his chest. "Did you just smell my hair?" I asked. He made a deep cackle that always made me smile. "Yes, that way I will always remember your hair as smelling like apples." I lifted my head and pulled him into a deep kiss, then laid my head on his chest. I was almost completely asleep when I heard Chase whisper into my ear, "Goodnight my love."
