I walk along the beach, the sharp rocks and pebbles digging into my feet slightly as I glance at the ocean, the beautiful blueish-green waves lapping at my feet.
I look up to see a young girl. She looks about tenish. Her midlength dark brown hair that's tied in two twintails gently floats in the breeze as she laughs. It makes me chuckle.I stand there and watch her play in the water for some time before I realise that the water... it's slowly creeped backward further than it should have... it's rather worrying... the girl seems to have either not noticed, or not be worried about it. I stand there pondering what this could mean for longer than I believe I did.
Then I properly look out to sea. I feel the colour draining from my face at what I see. A huge wave, towering over 20ft as it rushes toward us. I turn towards the young girl, attempting to get us to safety before the wave hits. But just as my hand clamps around her lower arm, I feel a sense of dread as the wave hits us; the cold water chilling my bones as everything goes dark.
(By the way, this story isn't over yet despite it being a short story! There should be at least 1 or 2 more chapters before it is finished!)
