Alone in the rain

Eleven year old Jamie Carson sat alone in a cold, wet, and dark alleyway somewhere in the streets of New York. He sat shivering as the freezing winter rain drenched his frail and bony figure to the core. Water poured from they dark sky, an omen of the pain to come.

He sat waiting for his parents who left him there and told him to stay put. Deep down he knew they were long gone and never coming back, but he held onto that small strand of hope that they would come to him and carry him back home. They would sit him in front of the fire place and tell him stories of brave people who did the unthinkable and saved countless people. They would give him a warm meal and cozy hugs as he would drift off to sleep. He knew it wasn't real, but he almost felt like they were hugging him as he drifted off into the dark embrace of slumber.

Jamie had been sitting in this alley for around two days now he believes. He can't tell that well how long it has been, but he guessed it had been around two days. He can't think straight, all of his thoughts run in circles out of his control. He hadn't eaten anything and he hadn't moved from his spot on the cold and wet asphalt ever since his parents had left. The only times he drank was when it rained and he could tilt his head back and catch the cold droplets in his open mouth.

He felt like he was sick and he felt like he was about to starve. His throat felt dry and like it was squeezing him, making it hard for him to breathe. His nose wouldn't stop running and causing him to sniffle and wipe his nose over and over on his shirt sleeve. He kept coughing until he felt like throwing up yet all he could do was dry heave as he had nothing to throw up.Jamie stayed put in the alley way though, determined to stay so his parents would find him.

He leaned his head back onto the cold brick wall, trying to ease the headache and pain that held him in its grip. Black splotches started appearing in Jamie's vision, as his eyes drooped closed. The pain started fading as the hands of sleep pulled him into its arms.yet even sleep couldn't help anymore as he slipped through sleeps grasp and fell down into the darkness of deaths sweet lullaby.

The young boy never woke up he died alone in the dark, his last thoughts were about how no one cared and his parents didn't want him. Tears stained the boys dead face, a reminder of the pain that the boy had, and the tears shed throughout the world every night.

             —Two days later—

[ news lady]   Eleven year old Jamie Carson found dead an alleyway near second street. The boy appeared to have stayed there for at least a week after being abandoned by his parents Grace and Sam Carson. Doctors say he appeared to have starved and died of dehydration. The boy also has multiple bruises covering his body, they believe the marks were from the boys parents. Here's what the boy's parents said.

[ Reporter ] How do you feel about your sons death?

[ Sam Carson ]   I don't care that he died, he was of no use to us in this family and was just a lowly mistake.

[ Reporter ]   Why was your son who was only eleven a so called 'lowly mistake'? He was so young and innocent and you just took away what could have been a wonderful life for the boy.

[ Grace Carson ]   He couldn't do anything right. He talked wrong and was terrible at school and at doing anything. We have no remorse for what we did, the stupid kid deserved it and I hope he never goes to heaven so he can learn how much of a mistake he is.

[news lady ] There you go folks. This is a tragedy of high levels for this city. I don't believe I have ever seen anything quite as brutal as this story. Remember to stay safe folks and we will be back at this case in June, for the couple's upcoming trial.

—Five months later in June.—
(Location: New York State criminal courthouse)

[ Judge Sanders ] The jury has come to a decision. Mrs. Carson, you have charged for domestic abuse for 20 years, First-degree murder for 50 and domestic assault for 30 years. That totals 100 years at the state prison and you won't be legible for parole until 70 years into your sentence when you are the age of 103.

Grace lowered her head as the court officers escorted her out of the room.

[ Judge Sanders ] Mr. Carson the jury has decided to give you a life sentence for three charges that are domestic abuse, First-degree murder and domestic assault Ashely as possession of illegal substances. You are not eligible for parole and you will be put in the state high security prison.

Sam glared at the judge as the police lead him out. They both stayed in prison until they died of old age. Jamie was buried in a graveyard near his grandparents and a tree was placed near his grave.
