This wasn't how this was supposed to happen. I should have spent the last year of high school in my hometown of Los Angeles and graduated with my friends. Instead, I'm here. I'm stuck in this small town of Fairmont, North Carolina with no way out, and I don't even know why. My dad told me we moved for his job, but what kind of seventeen year old doesn't know what her father does for a living. I've asked and each time he has told me that he is some kind of business man, but some things just don't add up to me. It happened out of the blue. My parents sat me down the last day of my junior year and told me we were moving, and that was that. I'm not allowed to keep in contact with anyone I have grown up with in California, and things are tough in this small town. I'm honestly surprised I got to keep my name, Sophia. So far I've spent the summer here and I haven't made any friends, I hope that changes as the school year rounds the corner in a week. I just figured I would make a few friends and stay in the background, while still trying to make the most of this last year of high school. Boy was I wrong. I would soon find out that it was next to impossible for me to just be in the background; I became strangely popular in the first few weeks of senior year at Fairmont High, I even got the attention of the most popular guy in school. And I would soon learn that the town of Fairmont is filled with secrets, some hundreds of years old. Everybody who lives in this town has a secret, and I would soon find out that some are meant to remain hidden. I'm Sophia Goretti. This is my story.
