"Jason," I state more firmly and stand from my seat. The waiter gives an 'are you kidding me' look.
"Blake...." His voice is a mere whisper and he looks over his shoulder then at the three boys with me.
"Why didn't you ever tell me you were leaving? Or even say good-bye?" I mentally smack myself for sounding so weak, feeble, and most of all, hurt. Those feelings didn't belong to me... in any way. Hell, I don't even know what I was feeling now! Mainly just confusion. Why would he be here and why does he keep looking over his shoulder?
"Blake, can we not do this right now? Georgette has requested me to be here. Seeing who you're with, I would recommend that you leave while you still can," he whispers into my ear. His tone was strained and not to be argued with.
"Okay fine," he nods and turns back to the waiter. Stopping him, I spin him back around to face me. "You have to meet me somewhere okay? I need you to explain a few things to me."
"Blake, I-"
"No Jason!" I snap. "I want you to talk to me. After tonight, if you never want to see or talk to me again, fine. Just let me have tonight." I look him in the eye and he gives a meek nod. Nothing like the stoic yet care-free Jason I had come to know.
With one last look, I release him and turn back to the very confused boys. "Looks like we aren't eating here tonight boys. I'll pay for our orders."
I lay cash out; more than probably necessary for the meals and tip combined. It wasn't my money so it didn't faze me.
"So then where are we going to eat?" Kyle asks, shooting Jason a weird look as I quickly shove all three boys out. It was a bit difficult when they were confused and waiting for answers.
"Move your lazy asses before I move them for you! I'll explain when we get some place else. For now, we just need to leave. Got it?" My voice is sharp and they sense the possible danger of doing the opposite of what I demanded. God today is just not going my way!
I give them a final shove to tell them move it faster. They immediately scurry to the parking garage we had parked in. It would be only pure luck if Georgette used the other parking garage. We didn't escape the very public business only to be caught in a very deserted and dark garage.
"Move it!" I grit out and hurry to my car. Those lame brains weren't going to get me caught. If Jason knew of them and what they did, there was no doubt that Georgette would too. Damn this day to hell!
Quickly getting in my vehicle, I hit my hands off of the steering wheel and angrily start the engine. Refraining from squealing my tires, my motions were slower and calmer than I would have liked. If Georgette did drive in, there was a possibility she wouldn't think it was me or even have any suspicions if she saw my car. Now if my over angered ass was doing what I wanted to do -say speed off like I was being chased- she would investigate and I would be royally screwed.
Looking every which way, I pull into down town Seattle's late evening traffic. My hands grip the wheel tight as I scan the people walking the street and even trying to get a feel for any drivers I get a look at.
With sheer luck on my side today, I manage to make it out of Seattle and on my way to Federal Way. The boys keep up this time as I only do five over the limit. Ten over or ten under means trouble and I don't need trouble. Half of Seattle's cops knew me and what I do for a living, they just turn their heads. Heck some of them do what I do too!
Nah, better not push my luck on this.
My phone rings making me jump. Not expecting that one.
"Yes?" I answer in an icy tone like I always do when I don't look at the caller ID.
