Walking down the street, as we closed in closer to my house, the gap between my newly held boyfriend and I ceased to exist. Our hands and fingers intertwined as we leaned into each other, as if we wouldn't dare take another step without being so close.

Everything was going just well, just nothing but bliss, expressed through each of us as we peppered kisses on each other's faces as we mumbled nonsense on the way home. The closer we got to my home, he tensed up, squeezing my hand tightly in his own.

"Should I stay the night?" The sun, by the time we had traversed leisurely all the way back from the cold ocean waves, had set completely upon the horizon, the line of buildings and ground mixed up enough that the small bit of sunlight left was scattered and smudged throughout the sky, clouds turning from white to pink to gray.

The moon was covered by the heavy clouds that upset the night's elation. I smiled up at the boy I loved so dearly, nodding, "Of course."

With him being in my life, so close and permanent, I knew there was more than just the simple pleasures of a gentle life, but the large overall embrace of a lover.

"Your mother won't mind, right?" The street lights sparking and flicking on as we passed, immediately attracting a few bugs that flew by, searching for something to latch onto and adore in the way that I adored my love.

We turned the corner, walking with more spirit and energy, mostly excited energy, as my house got closer into view. The sidewalk between us and my home shallowing as I pulled him along.

I shook my head as we ran along the sidewalk, huffing through my nose as I yanked the door open when we got there.

But as soon as I opened that door, our hair still damp and our clothes still slightly dripping, leaving a trail of salty water behind us, I heard the sound of my mother's voice echoing through the dining room, and the sound of a couple other people, as well as the smell of my mother's extraordinary cooking. She was with her coworkers, I'd forgotten.

"Let's go upstairs, yeah?" I yanked him through the front doorway, making sure to be gentle as I shut the door behind us, dragging him up the stairs. I gathered myself as I shoved in through my bedroom door and shut that door behind us too, for the first time in a week.

He found his way over to Honey's cage, pulling the door open and pulling him out to kiss him over and over again, "I'm your boyfriend now, I might as well get to love our son." He laughed at his own comment, one that made me roll my eyes before flicking the light switch and trudging over to my dresser, scavenging for something warm, and dry to wear, as well as something for Yeonjun.

"It's late enough, 7:30pm, want to just go to sleep?"

"I mean we can get in bed, sure."

He gave another final kiss to my rabbit before placing him back inside his cage. I grabbed 2 pairs of sweatpants and 2 sweaters, one for each of us, tossing them over at Yeonjun as he shut Honey's cage.

"You comfortable to change with me in the room?" He snickered before he walked over to me, tossing the sweater and pants onto the end of my bed, grabbing onto my waist as I clenched the clothes close to my chest.

"No."

He rolled his eyes and turned around, "Okay, I won't look."

He was being super childish, in a way that I found obnoxious and annoying, yet cute at the same time. But all I knew was I was so excited to take off these freezing cold clothes and snuggle into something warmer.

But this time, unlike when I was younger, this wasn't the same as getting out of my grandmother's pool, or the lake after a nice swim, my mother wrapping me in a towel and brushing the hair out of my face, leading me to the picnic table to eat the peanut butter and jelly sandwich she had prepared for me. Sure, I was happy to be all cozy in bed with my boyfriend, but it wasn't the same kind of happy as a nice summer day being 10 years old, running through the sprinklers with the only dog close enough to mine.
