If it wasn't for the soft glow from the street light, I would've missed the black Mercedes parked across my street. The tinted windows custom wheels and black emblem told me it was the same one Augustus used last. The street was otherwise empty this late in the night.
Seo Joon stepped out of the vehicle, hair slicked back but oddly in denim. I tilted my head at his bow that was too graceful for one who could barely passed as twenty-one. It wasn't the first time he's done this and I've yet to get used to it. I didn't know Seo Joon personally, but have seen how loyal he was to Augustus on multiple occasions. I'd have nothing to worry about him. He'd follow Augustus order of bringing me to him.
That's why I started forward and ignored the itchy sensation growing on my arms.
The feeling didn't give and I locked eyes with Seo Joon. The corner of his lip flinched a tiny fraction and I smiled awkwardly. What's he laughing at?
Did he not feel that or did he know who it was? I considered it but Seo Joon bringing back up didn't make sense. The man was thin but could lift as much as most Alphas, if not more. I've once witnessed a vampire arm wrestle a werewolf and both stepped out of it frustrated with broken bones.
I remembered I was in my cupcake patterned pjs and grimaced but kept my pace as I casually turned my face as if checking for cars. There was nothing but shadows. No bikes or other vehicles that didn't usually park here that could belong to one of Sethan's wolves.
Seo Joon opened the door without a word, reminding me of how I'd once thought he was a mute.
I gave Seo Joon a quiet salute and got nothing in return. His blank face told me I'll have to succeed in harassing him in some way or form to get him to talk.
Challenge accepted.
I straightened to the edge of the seat and waited for him to settle into the driver seat. My hand shoot out and ruffled his gelled hair that wasn't as stiff as it should've been.
Seo Joon started the car but didn't react otherwise.
"Joonie, it's not polite to not say hi." I took a page out of Roman's playbook and started spiking his hair, "And this sleek wet look isn't doing wonders in covering up for your lack of personality." I stated as if discussing the weather, "It's been how long?"
Seo Joon didn't bite. But his thin fingers latched around my wrist and squeezed gently. He caught my eye in the review mirror and strangely, I understood him without a word. I bowed, didn't I? was written across his features, mainly in his dark chocolate eyes.
Of course, Joon put up with Roman on a daily basis. This probably factored lower than a mosquito bite. With a sigh, I release his hair, that can now rival Maggie Simpson, and he let go of my wrist.
I fly into the back of his seat face first and short but joyous laughter fills the air around me. The car that had lurched forward at Seo Joon's command, slowed to a steady pace.
Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned his dashing personality.
I grumbled my way back onto my seat and strapped in, "I deserved that."
It was only when we were part way there when Seo Joon showed any other signs of life, "Do you know them?"
I straightened immediately, "He speaks!" I teased but searched outside with a heavy reminder of what I'd ignored when I'd exited my shop.
I relaxed when I spotted the bikes. It must've been them earlier. They've gotten better at blending in.
"They're stalkers I've acquired. Are you interested in petting them?" I paused for effect, "I ensure you that they're mostly harmless."
